What pro's aren't playing with Low Deflection shafts?

I think a lot more players are using these than we actually know... I think there are some advantages for someone like me who plays once in a great while, or has long layoffs.

Oh, and I would like to learn how to play pool, so kick down instructors!! I didn't know I sucked so bad! I'm going to have to take a lesson now.

Not sure what part of Cali you're in...but if you're around San Diego, look up Danny Propp. You can find him through www.themonk.com I hear he's a hell of an instructor and he just opened up shop that's supposed to be rather nice. I've only seen pics...

Well, Tony Drago comes to mind, (he plays with a John Parris pool cue).

From the recent US Open these were the players I saw that did not use low deflection shafts. SVB, Ronnie Alcano, Efren, Busta, Dennis Orcollo, Lee Van Corteza, Parica, Rudulfo Luat, Larry Nevel, James Walden, Johnny Archer, Allen Hopkins, Rodney Morris, Gabe Owen, Tony Chohan.

Josh some of the people here might not know you or the speed you play. Having said that I have to say I think you play pretty sporty. By the way Corky said he wants to come over and hit some balls. I hope all is well and it will be good to see you at some tournaments soon. So lay off on some of that fishing and get your butt back in stroke. When you were playing there weren't many that wanted any.

I saw parica using an ob-1 the whole week

dennis O had a predator shaft last time i saw him play a couple months ago he had it everyday..and SVB uses a regular joss shaft and hasnt changed in 14 yrs or so
 
no body on the mosconi cup team did, i hit balls with everyones cue except earl and SVB's cue, but i did look at Earls cue closely, i have seen SVB's cue many of times but never hit a ball with it, I will someday, he has used the same shaft since he was 9 its just a Schon shaft.

If I'm wrong about this its just because I didnt notice it, it would have been Cory's cue if there was a cue that had a lamanated shaft, Rodney was using a Showman and wow what a cue,. Cory's cue I hit one ball with Kim handed it to me and I fired a ball in with it, it felt great. I handed it back and winked at Kim. I asked Kim who's cue it was, he didnt know. I felt awakward that I hit a ball with someone elses cue with out permission, it felt great too, awesome actually. I saw Cory at the derby using it so then I knew who it belonged to.




i have friends who play alot better than me and love them, so who am I to judge? personally I like 40 year old maple shafts, I love the feel of them. Even I played better with a lamanated shaft, i would stick with the old school stuff. i like the tiger shaft the best of the lamated shafts the best so far, I will try them all just for the experience.

Terminology?

Many of the these conventional shafts are tapered and built to have relatively low deflection play characteristics too. I think most better players want a firm shaft with relatively low squirt.

Thanks but all I did was copy it from a thread on the IPT AZ forum. Others like ramsuckr did the work of gathering the information.

Good catch. He now plays with his mother's Runde Schon, not sure about the shaft. I think it may be a Joss or Joss East shaft. If anybody knows for sure post it here and I will change it in the "official" list on the other forum.
