What Recourse Do I have?

Bought a couple of cues online. Paid with a Postal Money order. Sent it to him USPS Express Mail… He cashed the check and never sent the cues.

This genius also told me that he works for UPS and would ship via them: I have his employee ID number from a picture that he posted on Facebook.

What legal recourse do I have?

Would I be justified in making a complaint with UPS since he used his position there in the scam?

Thanks

If this purchase crosses state lines he may be guilty of a felony.

You have left out a lot of details. It would be nice to know more.

I found the USPS money order system to be a nightmare of bloated congestive idiotic issues.. They could not even track their own money orders when one was lost in their mail system.. Because they had no way to track their own money order they were not even able to tell me if it was cashed or to cancel it.. It was ludicrous..
This all happened 8 or 10 years ago and maybe just maybe it has improved since then.. It was after that incident I stopped using postal money orders for anything. I prefer cashier's checks from my own bank..

He listed some cues on offer-up.

I contacted him about buying them.

We are on opposite sides of the country.

He said he couldn’t figure out how to complete the sale on their platform.

I wanted to use PayPal. He refused.

He wanted to use Zelle. I refused.

We agreed that I would pay via postal money order.

I sent the money order.

It was cashed within a day or two.

It’s approaching 90 days since.

He says stuff like he’s “shipping today.”

Then, he’ll say that he’s sending the money back.

Then, he’ll claim to be shipping a different day, and he’ll video it.

His responses have become patronizing, like it’s a game and I can’t do anything.

Never stated that anything has actually been shipped.

I warned him that I would pursue the matter with the postal inspectors and his local law enforcement.

I wanted to wait until after the holidays to do so.

How do you know the photo and ID is actually his? Could it be part of the scam or is the photo in an unrelated facebook album, etc.?

He had another item listed… I could see the reflection of him taking the picture in a mirror on his wall… Same person.

Name and face match work i.d..

money orders are the same as sending cash. dont expect any more than that.

you had all the tells that it was a scam and fell for it anyway blinded by the sale.

so now call his boss. they will get it made right. next if no quick response call the police in his town.

Call the Postmaster general in his area. It's mail fraud...abd worse if he really works there

Call the police department in his area as well.

With the money order, you have no protections.

Additionally look into small claims court...may have to be brought where he lives. That I'm not sure of.

If convicted of charges, everyone is innocent until proven guilty in Court of Law.

That is the reason Jack Ruby was waiting trail for shooting & Killing Lee Harvey Oswald.

1. Contact USPS Postal
Inspector, as they are the Police of USPS. Mail was used to comit fraud,

2. Contact local Police agency that had jurisdiction where person resides.

3. UPS has internal security that could be interested.

I am surprised you fell for scam, as your were a member I thought knrw about red flags.

I s as m not sure how much sure how much this pos took you for, but if all else fails find someone near this pos to go visit them.

Not much recourse sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Either he squares you away or rips you off and not much you can do at this point to change that course.

If it's in the thousands of dollars and this cat is well known to the locals you may get some help but probably not.

People talking about postal fraud and state lines are out of touch with the give a shit of the people who are supposed to do so now days.

Who is it? If you identify him and he comes through consider it a good reference.
