What shoes do you wear when playing pool?

There's also a newer company from Finland making billiard specific shoes. Moose's Shoes. They're already boasting a professional lineup that includes Jayson Shaw, Scott Frost, Mika Immonen, Thorsten Hohmann, and John Morra. Maybe there's something to them...

I think shoes can make a big difference when you're on your feet for 5+ hours straight, with only short rests. This might not be as much a factor in matches, but you can certainly practice longer in better shoes.

I recently tried pool in my running shoes... I've never felt more comfortable during a long practice session.

Action, I wasn't kidding. Wear whatever is comfortable. I know a guy that plays barefoot in warm weather and in his socks in the cold weather.

This is an obvious longshot, but the guy's name isn't Scottie is it?

Running shoes or a nice pair of flip flops. My girlfriend insists on high heels, but I suspect she just wants to look good.

Loafers, either Ecco or Rockport. Both are very comfortable for pool.

I go back and forth with the Mephistos "Match" shoes and the newer Nike Air Max 2015.

Both pretty good. Mephistos are casual shoes and VERY HEAVY, but comfortable.

I usually wear good tennis shoes. i notice a big difference in my play if i leave work in a hurry and forget my shoes and end up playing in my boots. they make me about an inch taller and everything feels off as a result.

This comment is very telling, but in my opinion it is not detailed enough. Every shoe has a different profile. Different heel height, different arch support, different foot pad height, different toe height, etc. Changing one of these variables will change how you play pool, mostly because of your balance and height changes. Therefore, I only wear the same shoes every time I play pool.

Now which shoe I choose to play in will remain a secret.

so i have never really thought about what shoes i wear when playing pool

however last night I did went down to hit some balls and ended up in 1p action for 10 hours
i had summer tennis shoes on that are super thin and by the last couple of hours my feet were killing me

has anyone had this happen and what shoes do you recommend

before anyone thinks this is far fetched il have you know mika immomen and rodney Morris are both sponsoring "pool shoes" so maybe there is something to it

The only thing that works for me are Sanita Professional Clogs.
I've tried my Mephisto shoes, have 5 or 6 pair, and various other
high quality shots but nothing works better - for me - than Sanita
Pro clogs.
If I don't wear those I get bad plantar faciitis within the first 30 minutes.
Wear them and I can play for hours.

Telling someone to buy and wear what is comfortable and nothing else in terms of recommendations is bit overly simplistic I think, and does not really help much I think.

Personally, I will say that I currently wear a pair of Skeechers with memory foam insoles. The pair I wear also have velcro straps in place of shoe strings which I find very nice. I have found these shoes to be very comfortable on my feet. But I deal with sensitive feet in the mornings with instant pain once my feet hit the floor. The Skeechers I wear now help to reduce that foot pain but not completely eliminate it.

In the past I have worn selected dress shoes and loafers from Johnson & Murphy that contain their comfort sole system. Those are very comfortable for long term wear.

I am looking into shoes by Keen, because I have been told that their shoes are designed more for specific arch support and that may help me with my feet pain problems. But they are spendy, so I wait some before I splurge on those.

So from my experience I would look into those brands and shoe features when it comes to buying shoes for long term pool playing.

yeah comfortability is an obvious and main choice. i used to play in shorts and flip flops all of the time, but i cant do it anymore. even though i still wear them on a daily basis because of the hot weather, but i dont prefer to play pool in them. i have to wear pants and shoes when i play now. i know that sounds dumb but its probably my OCD coming out.

i like shoes that are not too grippy or not too slippery, something right in between. if its too grippy like a new pair of running shoes, my feet are constantly skidding on carpet or what have you. if my flip flops are too worn out they become too slippery, and if i have to reach for a shot with one foot on the ground it becomes very uncomfortable. lately ive been wearing nike shox, and i dunno but the heel of them kind of gives me more of an upright/taller stance that i like. the weight is also towards the back of the shoe which makes me feel more planted in my stance. if i feel any bit shaky in my stance i get uncomfortable.

to one their own. i think i remember hearing a commentator say earl made johnny go run across the street to get him a different pair of shoes before a match because earl didnt feel comfortable in them. lol

Man, I tried it, but shoes are just too bulky, so I'm now using a glove. Oh, you mean on your feet ;)

Upon a recommendation of a friend I recently procured a pair of Propet Villager Mids. Extremely supple leather upper, extremely low lift outsole & the most comfortable insoles I've ever seen.

I play long hours on almost a daily basis and these shoes are amazing in terms of comfort.

I wear ECCO Oxfordss and/or Dunham Oxfords. I read in one of the Pool Books a long time ago where it's advisable to wear the same or same type of shoes when you play Pool.

Having the same platform is suggested for maximum performance. It is also advisable to wear a pair of shoes that you can stand for a long period of time.
