What size pool table do you own?

I am about a week and a half away from owning a tournament used Diamond Pro-Am one piece slate table, installed by our very own realkingcobra. Along with Diamond light..

Woot!

I have a 9'. The room its in is plenty big enough too :) I positioned it to have, at least, 6 feet from the edgde of the table to the walls. It gives about 6 extra inches on a full backswing /cheer There is enough room for a couch on one end too.

I am getting ready to build onto that room in a couple months to add a bar table, and a ping pong table as well as a sitting/viewing area. Alltogether, my pocket billiard room is going to be 750sqf... Right now its 400...

Anyways, nine footer here and will never not own one...

Yeah my GC III came with 5 1/2" pockets and I read on the BCA site a few weeks ago that competition tables now have 5" corner pockets. I would be sure the seller / installer put in the "regulation" pockets.

Bought the shims for a few bucks but it will be a pain installing with the exisitng rails.

That is what I wanted but I couldn't find anything near me. I found the Gabriels at a good price in driving distance so I snagged it. I built the light. It is basically a Diamond tournament light knock off. Not quite as cool but it does the job.

I think an 8 footer will work in that space. To be sure, lay out the playing surface on the floor with string (the string represents the inside edge of the cushion) and then lay your cue out all the way around, perpendicular to the string. Remember that you need swing room, but also remember that you don't need nearly as much swing when the cue ball is frozen on the rail. Plus, you're going to be jacked up at least a little bit.

Tom,

Many thanks, it is at least worth a try.

Great way to spend 9 grand.
Enjoy that bad boy. I would.

I have a Brunswick 8 ft Montabello...red felt. Beautiful ass table. I wish I could have gotten the 9...but the layout of my basement just wouldn't allow it. As it is...you have to use the short cue anytime you're on the long rail shooting straight across to the other side...as is the case a lot in one pocket. I started using the cue so much...I put a Moori tip on my short cue! LMAO I bought my Montabello, the matching cue rack, two Brunswick player chairs, the Brunswick mirror with the ball rack, and the Premium Brunswick players truck that came with all the racks, a set of balls, four two piece cues, bridge, etc.....brand ned for $11,500. What a steal. Since the table is shorter...I triple shimmed the pockets. ANd...since I like to play straight pool and one-pocket...and there's no ball return on this model...and I had larger drop pockets custom made so the pockets can hold a total of 8 balls without impact another ball from going in.

9' Brunswick my friend gave me when he moved. Set it up with 2 other guys and it was missing the cross beam. I fabricated a new one with 2x6 spruce. Paid $500 cash for Simonis tournament blue 860 installed. the best money I ever spent. Thats my sister in avatar, tryin it out. Jim

I just bought my table four months ago. It's an 8 foot pro (oversized 8) Olhausen Remington. Finish is Traditional Mahagony on Maple, with a graphite (black) rail. Cloth is olive simonis 860. If I may say so myself, it's a great looking table. If I was a little more computer savy, I'd post a pic.

The table's in an unfinished basement, where I had room for the 9". Some days I wish I went for it, but I don't lose too much sleep over it. I think the 8 foot pro is a nice compromise (I'm just an average recreational player, unlike most of you guys).

Keep in mind that you may move someday and it will probably be easier to find a house/apartment that can accomodate an 8 or 8 pro than a 9.

after reading everyones nice set-ups its sad to say i have a 6.5' old valey coin table. but hey, its better than nothing!

Yopur room is plenty large enough for a 9" table. I have an Ohlhausen Pro 8 (8 1/2' X 4 1/4'). Ohlhausen offers many models in this size. I like the Pro 8 as well as a 9 footer and have no trouble transitioning from a Pro 8 to a 9 although I find a great difference playing on an 8 X 4.

My 9 ft Diamond Pro, I made sure the house I just built had plenty of room above the garage. Now I need a pub table and barstools.:)

Hambone- I LOVE that table and light. Tell me that you put in a plasma or widescreen in there to watch a game and shoot pool. I would never leave that room!

9' table

My table is an antique 9' Rosatto Barry Street Co. dated between 1884 to 1906 that was recenetly refinished.
It plays better than the local pool hall's Olhousen tables.
