I was just curious what speed you feel Ike Runnels is playing 9 ball.

Ike is a good player and I know this is not his best game but he's a player I actually enjoy watching play. One pocket anyway..

So what's your thoughts/feelings about the question.

Im gonna say he is only a good regional player in big table nine ball-meaning in a Joss type event held in Chicago with 96 players, he would be expected to finish on average around 9-12th. This is an opinion based on almost nothing so dont anyone get upset.

bout your speed:)

He plays pro speed and I will place him in bottom tier if Pros could be devided into three tiers.

I would say 1-P is his best game, but he plays ALL the short games well and generally goes to the final eight of any tournament he enters. He's solid. GF

IP is probably his best game but he is a force in 8Ball, 9Ball and Banks. He would surprise you if you ever saw him get down. He beat Billy Incardone out of +$25K a couple of years ago playing even 1Hole. Not too shabby there. Him, Ritchie and Jeff Sergent beat Kirkwoods master team pretty good as well. He's not always the favorite, but nobody has to beat him. He's older than you think as well, so he has tonsa experience!

I believe he finished runner-up to Bobby Hunter at the recent NCS 8-Ball qualifier at Red Shoes.

Not sure about Ike, but Pete Runnels was a good ballplayer.

Hope that helps.

Play nice now!

LOL My favorite and most reasonable reply whenever one pool player asks me about another's "speed". All I can say is go ahead and play him and you'll have a real good idea afterwards for the better or worse.

Play nice now...

Ok, ok...Ike's best game is..................pool and he plays it well too I might add! :)

Any comment that can incorporate someone who was a member of both the Washington Senators AND the Houston Colt .45s is worth its weight in gold...

I wasn't digging for information on Ike. I know how Ike plays. Just simply asking what "others" feel his speed is in 9 ball.

I don't care to watch too many players play as not much impresses me to be honest. But Ike is one of the few who I actually like watching. Like watching him in one pocket anyway.

Efren, Bustamante, Varner, Buddy Hall, and Earl when he wasn't so crazy are among my very short list of players I would actually sit down and care to watch play.

For me, I always called Ike a "road pro." What that means is he's a player that could cut it as a pro, but he chooses to be a road player. Put all of his focus in one game in preparation for a tournament or something, and he's going to be a force.

I do think Ike plays a great game of banks, but I would also say that 1-P is his game. It plays to his good banking, straight shooting, and creative ideas.

I agree with George I feel his best game is one pocket. Ike plays most games extremely well.
