What tips do you use??

I use Everest tips. I like them them best when about half worn down and have some good playing time on them. They dont mushroom and I very seldom need to shpe it, all I do is scuff it with my Kamui Gator Grip when chalk wont adhere to it.

I've still got some mid-90s Mooris, M, MH, and H...
...but I got Snipers on my old Joss and my snooker cue...very happy with them.
...gotta a Renfro one-piece M on my Black....also excellent.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to ask what tips you have on your regular maple shafts???

NOT YOUR LD SHAFTS

Thanks,

I have Triangle on ALL my play cue shafts.
Can't get enough of those tings.
Single layer.
Go for a really long time before you have to scuff them. Much longer than any other tip I've tried.
Don't mushroom.
And very awesome feel.

Reason was I know people prefer a herder tip on regular shafts to help with squirt and I always had an SS on my LD shaft

None of the people I know, including me, ever use a hard tip to help with the deflection.

Us solid maple shaft users are so used to compensating for deflection that we don't need/want any help from our tips....lol.

Just move your stroke hand left or right a couple of inches off center and you're good to go.

I only have one cue that has the best tip I have ever used. My Ed Prewitt cue has original brown Moori tips.
I've tried the current offering of Moori tips and it was definitely not the same quality nor to my liking either.

Since that tip has become more rare than Cortland linen, I've had to find a subsitute.......Kamui Clear Black (soft).
I used to play Kamui Black (medium) but it glazed too easily & required frequent scuffing unlike the Kamui Clear........A+++

Elk master or nothing ! ......

I play about the same with either.

Dave <-- does his own to keep costs down

Triangle is what I've used for the last 3 years or so.

After trying about a dozen or so layered tips I'm back to using Triangles.
I get them installed at the Billiard supply store for $13.00
Or by a custom cue maker with a shaft clean and wax for $20.00.
And I don't plan on trying the next greatest tip to come along.

some tips are better than other for sure. but those who obsess over the leather in a tip are trying to make excuses for their poor ball striking abilities.

I am currently using a Pooldawg8 Milk dud tip on my regular shafts. I used LD shafts for many years, but have gone back to using a regular maple shaft. I really like the regular shaft with the milk dud. I removed my Kamui Tips from my shafts, except for a long time Predator Shaft that I left an older Moori tip on.

Last 3-4 years I've had elk master tips on my playing cue. I got fed up with the Moori mediums because they would shine really quickly and they would need scuffing almost every night. Elk Master has to be hit for some time so that it hardens a bit but then it'll play for a year with no problems. I'm curious though about the Triangle-tip that gets tossed around in this thread. How much harder is it really?
