G2 Soft plays well on my maple shafts and on my Predator FAT 314-2.
KI-TECH medium The best I've used in 50+ years...
So, another vote for Triangle, then.
Ernie Martinez says a Ki Tech and a Triangle cut and smell the same when trimming?
Can you clarify the highlighted above? I mean are you saying they buy Elkmaster/LePro/Triangle tips and just do additional processes? Or are you saying they use the same base leather (water buffalo hide) and respective tanning processes (chrom/veg/chrome+veg), but that Ki-Tech have their own leather selection process and leather tanning, press process and controls?Because they're the same tip. They're just treated with something. A KT soft is an Elk with camel urine in it. A medium is a Triangle with camel urine. A hard is a Le Pro with camel urine. I kid about what they're soaked in. But the "base" for the tips are 100% as described above.
A milk dud is pretty much just a pressed elkmaster. The milk just acts as a mild glue to fill the gaps and allows the leather to firm up a little. A good Triangle will play fantastic. Press them to break them in a little more. Elks are chromium tanned leather. Le Pros are vegetable tanned leather. Triangles are tanned twice. Same leather as the elk, but chrome tanned, and vegetable tanned. Makes for a great playing tip. A lot of custom makers use Triangles as their standard tip.

There are generally 4 types of leather used in single layered.... Mineral Tanned Cow, Chrome Tanned Cow, Veg Tanned Cow and Veg Tanned WB...
After that it's all about chemistry and processing... Our medium and medium soft are both Chrome Tanned which most people see and think Triangle... Correct in the leather type incorrect in the tip... Our M/S is a 60 where the Triangle is a 76 and it will stay down at 60 simply because we fat liquor the leather and then stabilize it there so it will remain as a medium soft.... Our Medium is a 70 and has a higher COR than the Triangle at 76... Modern chemistry is amazing.. The medium soft came from testing a precipitate theory to make a chalkless tip it works without chalk as long as you are a tip tip 1/2 from center so more work will follow.
Up until WW2 we still had leather chemists and research is still being done to this day on how to improve resilience, elasticity and durability in leather goods... You type in leather fat liquoring into google or improving elasticity in leather.. Either of those will tell you 100% how far off the assumption is that they are the same...
Will be returning to facebook at this point... Freddy owes me a beer for dragging me back to AZ to address what I assume to be just bad information and not intent.....

Are you from the same part of Tennessee where they're made? I go to Knoxville from here in B'ham fairly often, does he have a shop to visit? Seems I've tried/failed to make contact !!!
So, another vote for Triangle, then.[....
My dog doesn't need to be in this race...
Was talking to a friend about this, he has one on a shaft he's gonna let me use for a week or 2, thanks !!!I just ordered more from his web site. It was hard to find the correct section from which to order so I just clicked on the "installer" option and then ordered. PM me if you need help.
