Hey guys I am doing business with a guy here on AZ, and he sent me the tracking #, so I have that. The package was supposed to be to me on march 1st it still is not here. According to the Tracking info it was accepted at his post office on the 27th of Feb. and that is as far as it has gotten. What steps do I need to take to try nd recover the package from the post office.

Ask the sender to claim on USPS.com.

It´s easy :)

Dial a Prayer R returned to sender . Just lost , and its imposible find anyone at the P.O. that even cares . GL Jim

If it is just accepted at his post office and does not show sorted I bet its not shipped yet.

I don't know how it was supposed to be there on March 1st if it was accepted late in the afternoon on Feb 27th.

Priority mail normally takes at least 3-6 days. If it was sent parcel post, it could take up to two weeks.

And sending a package by Express takes the same amount of time as Priority usually.

You can call or go to the post office with the tracking number and they maybe able to put a trace into the computer.

Your package is probably just hung up somewhere but will get delivered.

The sender did his job, you just need to wait.

Yeah it is just showing accepted at the post office he is sending it from. It does not show that it has actually shipped yet

This maybe true where you live, but where I live the people at my post office really care and will go the extra mile to satisfy me.

Believe me...they really don't want to lose their job.

This has happened to me before. It can show as being "accepted" at his post office the moment he generates a shipping label through Paypal for example. The item in question could very well be with him still. If he's tirelessly giving you the run-around or has completed ceased communication, it's time to do a little more research on the matter and him, and press for "theft by deception". If you need my help help, PM me.

This is not true. The package would have to be scanned in at the post office. Stop spreading rumors.

Not correct....it is SUPPOSED to be scanned at the post office and every sorting facility that it goes through.

However, (and trust me, I have mailed/received enough cues to know), the post office is the WORST about actually scanning items. It is not at all uncommon for the item to only show "Accepted" at the local post office, and not be up-dated until after actual delivery.

The post office can, however, track an item with the delivery confirmation/tracking number if you call them, but they normally won't do it until after 14 days have passed. Call 1-800-ask-usps and see if they will give you any info on it, but they probably won't yet.

On the good side, I have never had a package lost by USPS...I have had 3 totally destroyed, however, and collecting on the insurance is entirely another matter.

I've shipped quite a bit (not as much as bama, of course) and I, too, have never had a package lost. Luckily, I've never had one destroyed, either. However, twice I've had the package arrive at the destination and not get delivered. Once receiving, once sending. I had to go to the post office and tell them to search and they found it somewhere it wasn't supposed to be (and in the other case, I had to beg the guy to just go to the post office and make them search, and the same thing happened). You may want to try that.

Regardless, on a not-rare-enough occasion, even when tracking it will say "accepted" and then nothing else until "delivered" if even that. Usually they're pretty good, but too often they aren't about that type of thing.

Maybe you don't understand...if it comes up accepted at the post office, this means it was scanned in.

Why wouldn't you make sure they scan your packages? I don't leave the post office until my packages are scanned in.

If they don't scan it in, it is your fault for not making them do it in front of you.

Quite a bit of misinformation here for you all.

Thanks

Which part? Tell us wise one....

Your shipping times are way inaccurate by my experience. The way the world works is different people have different experiences, so I'm sure you are just a guy who has had shipping experiences different from mine.

Have a great day.

Kevin

My experience with priority mail is usually 2-3 days and most of the time two. Just my experience with USPS

Yup mine too. I ship some 60 items a week, mostly what they now call Parcel Select and those get cross-country in 5 or 6 business days. Priority Mail, depending on what time they get to the PO, 2 days or 3 days max cross-country. I ship 10 items a month Express Mail, which is 1 day guaranteed. The guarantee is that the PO will refund my postage if its not there on time and less than 1 in 10 end up in me filing for postage return.

Again, like you, just my experience with USPS.

Now you did it. I was trying to make the guy waiting for the package to not worry.

With these last two responses, he's probably going to call the police and have an investigation started.

I understand completely....if it comes up "accepted" at the post office, it DOES mean that they scanned it in at the front desk. That does NOT mean that they scanned it again at the back loading dock or at ANY other position within the travel route of that package. I have actually had to have USPS locate packages for me on several occasions...I have shipped/received tons of cue packages over the years. Priority Mail 2-3 day delivery is "normal" delivery, not "guaranteed" delivery. They have 14 days before they have to deliver or search for a USPS Priority Mail package.

Been there, done that, got several of the t-shirts.
