Hyenas and nazis, really? I can't believe all the hatred coming from discussions on the best way to play pool. Wtf, man?
So, some pool instructors have a setup here were they promote themselves and protect eachother on here. Some even get others to do that work for them. It's not some huge conspiracy, just some guys trying to drum up business. It's hardly worthy of the word conspiracy, and certainly not a comparison to nazis! I bet there are similar politics going on carpentry-, motor sports sites or any other site dedicated to a hobby or profession. Everyone knows this is going on, and it's not specifically against the rules that you yourself enjoy "skirting" so much.
If you disagree with their teaching, then preach your own and let others make up their own minds on which one is best! That's the essence of one of your slogans, isn't it? When you start with the paranoid raving, you only lose every ounce of credibility you might have. This is not big politics. This is guys traveling around in a van showing people to hit balls with a stick! It shouldn't even be worthy of anyones attention, really.
I have no association with any of the "professionals" on here, and thus have no interest what so ever in protecting them or their reputations, but that does not mean I'd spend my life trying to combat them, either. I also don't know enough about them to really tell what kind of instructors they are. They might be great, even if they teach things I disagree with. Some of them seem to be top class, judging from their posts and insights, in my lowly opinion. If I felt that strongly and certain about the superiority of my opinions on pool teaching, I'd rather create my own school and teach some guys how to play pool than trying to drag down people doing their best to teach people.
If you truely wanted to deceive , do what some are doing, pick only young, talented up- and comers and teach them. Then talk non stop about your bried lessons with them whenever they win something. Yeah, that one lesson on bridges when he was twelve is why he won the nationals 10 years later... That way you get to take credit for their God given talent.Don't start by teaching talentless Joe, you can do that later. There is this coach in Europe that keeps doing this over and over, so his resumè looks really impressive, but every other coach see him as somewhat of a clown and he quickly gets fired from any good teaching position, because essentially he only takes credit for talent and teaches a lot of rubbish. The other coaches do not, nor do I have any respect for people like that. I respect the guys with a passion for the game, who wants to make the game grow, instead of tending to their ego and bank account. Those guys exist, and should not be lumped in with the charlatans. I don't really even think there are too many of those charlatans, really, and they exist in every profession you can name. Since there is so little money in pool, there may actually be a lot fewer here than in other sports and hobbies. The little money there is in pool tends to attract idealists, rather than people of that nature.
It seems that you & another have totally misread that post.
Look at it in the context of the conversation between me & Bruce.
I am NOT comparing anyone of those animals or types of individuals to any real life individuals here.
They were merely examples of how one would be not be seen as innocent or much different from those of whom they associate.
I did that because Bruce was stuck on guilt by association & putting it in the context of only being a bad thing.
If one does not want to be seen as a rapist then one should not associate with a group of known rapists.
The guilt by association can be well used too teach a young man or woman about whom they should associate.
A young man that was just drafted in the NFL will have to disassociate himself from his own brother if he wants the life that he wants for himself & his potential family.
We are human beings & we do not always maintain a presumption of innocence as our law dictates in criminal proceeding.

I learned the valuable lesson that was taught to me by my civics teacher that I think & feel every individual should learn.
Always consider the source of any information as to what possible motives & agenda that the source providing the information might have.
It then serves one well as an aid in determining real truthful information vs. propaganda, sales spiels, etc.
Many have learned that lesson without it ever having being spoken to them.
Sadly very many have never learned that lesson & they so easily led by others.
That is why it is so easy for so many to see right through your posts regarding me given your motives & agendas & while some can not.

Good post, but I wanted to address this one part that I quoted. While you may be right about that, it's not something I personally have seen happen or been approached about on here at all. I think it is just a case of agreeing with an instructor, and telling others about a good experience with an instructor.
The definition is what it is & fits 'all' of your posts concerning me.
You being in denial regarding yourself does NOT change those facts.
There are rather many on AZB that want to sling it but do like it & can't really take it when the light of reality is shined upon them.

I do NOT "know" you & given what you have shown, it would be foolish of me to have trust in you.
That does NOT mean that you are untrustworthy. I would not be surprised at all that your family & friends can trust you to the enth degree.

I just came home from going to Chinatown for lunch.

Yeah, there was a vindictive smear campaign in the aiming thread, that resulted in them being granted the selective censorship that they wanted.
But there was still a lot less drama with the drama that you create with your crap not here.

Just a small point of clarification..... in all of my years here, I've never seen any reference that green indicates anything. Except for you proclaiming it. No one else.
