I doubt you'll get that lucky buddy. If she's anything like every other woman she'll find a way to blame you if it doesn't go right.
Hahahahahaha... I think I might be ok...
Quite a few years ago, we were looking for a second car, and we went down to the city municipal auction (I wanted one of the police cruisers). With two kids, we had about $1000 to spend, and all the cruisers went for considerably more than that.
Here's where I have to note that you take the car 'as-is'...
She spots a Ford Tempo... baby blue, four door, and it still has the adhesive remains of the city symbol on the doors. It's in ok shape, and she's 'examining' it while the auctioneer is at the car before it. And she wants me to bid on it. I tell her she'll have to drive it (I'm 6'7", so she's GOTTA drive it). She agrees, and the auctioneer gets to the Tempo...
"Let's start the bidding at $50, do I have any bidders ?"
I raise my tag while asking my wife, "YOU'RE driving this, right"
"Yes, I'll drive it."
Someone bids $100, and the auctioneer looks to me for $150. I raise my card again...
"Honey, how high do you want me to bid ?"
"... $300 ?"
Same guy bids $200. The auctioneer looks to me for $250. I ask my wife again, "You sure ?"
"YES !!!"
I raise my card at $250. He looks to the other bidder for $300, but that guy shakes his head no. And the auctioneer says into his microphone...
"SOLD to the tall gentleman standing in front of me here for $250. And sir, that was very smart of you to consult your wife at every bid, because if there's something wrong with that car, it's all on her... Next car up in the auction..."
I never let her forget that...
