What type of shot do you enjoy the most?

What kind of shot do you find the most fun and enjoyable, the one that gives you that special thrill when playing pool? Not necessarily the most useful or challenging one, but the one that makes you enjoy and "feel" the game the most. Also, I'm not talking about shot techniques, like soft or hard shots, spin or no spin, masse, bank, stop, draw etc. I'm referring to the nature or purpose of the shot. Is it:

1. Pocketing a ball and finding perfect position for the next one

2. Pocketing a difficult ball at all costs, even if it means sacrificing position

3. A straight-up safety shot which leaves your opponent in a truly bad spot

4. An attempt at a pocket, but which leaves the cue ball in a difficult position for the opponent in case you miss

5. Getting ball-in-hand

6. Hitting a ball hard while aiming at a pocket, so you maybe make something else if you miss the intended pocket (if slop counts)

7. Scattering the balls by hitting a large number of them hard, in order to completely rearrange the table situations (hopefully in your favor)

8. Blocking a pocket by one of your balls

9. Getting an opponent's ball away from a pocket, or generally creating problem balls for them

10. Making an intentional foul for whatever reason if it works in your favor in a specific situation

I personally prefer having high-percentage shots available, with a good possibility to find a favorable position for the next shot, or at least an efficient safety option. But what I enjoy the most are hard shots where I shoot at a pocket, but in the end make more that one of my balls somewhere, and maybe create one or more problem balls for the opponent at the same time. That is followed by scatter shots. Very few things in pool are better than the opponent having a clear situation to run out in one moment, and in the next few seconds finding themselves in a position with the CB in the middle of a cluster and at least a few of my balls blocking theirs.

What are your favorites? If it's something other than the ones I listed, feel free to describe.

None of those are really "shots" but strategies and basic game goals like playing position. A "shot" would be something like a 2 table length draw, or a thin cut with inside english or 3 rail position shot, etc...
The question is like asking "what is your favorite food" and then listing "cooked food" or "food cooked on coals" as an example. Those are not foods but techniques used to make food. Your list is not "shots" but situations.

True.

One of my favorites is playing a 1-4 inch roll through stun shot when the Q and object are several feet apart, pocket several feet away. You can’t really slow roll because to make the pocket you will over roll position so you have to go against natural (not mad player) instinct and hit it firm just a hair above center and it just feels awesome, it’s like a risk where you have to go all out with no fear of failure, lest you fail.

It’s best not to need to do it but it’s in my bag fo sho.

I also love side rail banks with the Q and object down near the foot or head rail, 1 pocket bread and butter banks. When I get them in 8 or 9 ball these days it’s like it’s hanging in the jaws already.

For me, it's hooking back when you come to the table snookered. It's just so satisfying.

I like "power" pool.

I prefer to play on tables with slow cloth and rails.

I like the sound of balls slamming into the backs of the pockets when you have to "ooomph" the shot in order to move the cue ball around.

Bunt pool ain't as fun.

Thinist of Cuts

I love making cut shots where you need to hit hard with just a hair thickness to make it in a corner pocket. It always gets the attention of the opponent.

On a fundamental level, I like draw shots. If given a 50/50 scenario, I'll take the draw just about 100% of the time.

Situationally, I have become something of an adept at combinations and carom/combos.

But most recently, I've gotten a little in love with draw-caroms. Probably too much in fact. Nearly lost a tournament over the weekend for wanting to play this little draw-carom.

Using a stripe ball as the cue ball on a straight in shot with extreme spin.

The girls always get mesmerized watching the stripe ball just spin in place for 5 seconds or so.

how about playing a bank off the stack to hang a ball in my hole and freezing behind a ball near my opponents pocket on the foot rail. knowing 100% that they're about to have to kick at my hole or take a wacky foul

That's the exact reason why I stated "not technique, but purpose of the shot" in the OP. Though if you want to talk about shot technique and mechanics, it's alright with me.

i have not read the other replies

my favorite shot is my game ball hanging in the jaws of the pocket,,,:)

As with most anyone, shooting the money ball.....especially after a "mouthy" opponent dogs it and leaves in right in front of the pocket.

I like to execute a tricky breakout shot and have it work out. By tricky I mean it should not be one where you can just blast away - you need to try to figure out where the tied up balls are going to be when the shot is done, and make sure the cue ball is on one of them.
