Edwin Reyes for me. Beauty, technique, originality, and playability comprises an ER cue.

Anyone care to guess 10 year from now what Unknown, or Little Know Custom Cuemakers Cues will have Appreciated the Most, be the Most in Demand, or be the Cue people will be saying. I wish had had bought one of those when they were only_ _ _ _, and now there is a -_ _ Year wait to get one, and the price is Sky High.

I am talking about Beauty, Art, Hit, and all the Qualities that make a GREAT CUE....

;)

I would say Mondavi Meucci...a long lost relative of Bob who will inherit the business when Bob decides to call it quits after he can't decide what color dot should be on the next shaft.

Mondavi, currently a wine taster in Napa Valley with no interest in cue making, will rise to the occasion and run the empire with a new line of cues called the grape edition which will just be knockouts.

Anyway, that's just my guess like everyone elses...I could be wrong.

In 1995, who woulda thunk that a fairly new cuemaker that took over someone's business and never built a cue prior to learning from him would be ranked among the best of today with a 5-7 year wait. Here's a hint....JH

Is Ed Pruitt very well known? He does some gorgeous work.

Dave in the Northwest is making some great cues in all the right ways. His abilities are ever increasing by the moment...

Mr. J.

I agree with you 100% Mr. J. When the new blue book comes out, Dave's craftmanship will be in the color section and with him looking forward to retiring and becoming a full time cue maker, his name will be most reconizable in the future I'm sure.

To me, and this is strictly to me, the best cues are going overseas to the Japanese. Scruggs, Schick, SW, and others ship most of their higher end product to the Japanese from my understanding.

Our Dear Friend Lucky who runs a Business in Japan called, “I Love Cues” has apparently tied up, or got several fine American Cuemaker to send him their best work first.

Cuemaker I am talking about is Bender, Gina, Schick, Barenbaugge, Southwest, Showman, Szamboti, and quite a few more.

Lucky is a good businessman, and if you see his prices in YEN, divided em by 107 to get close U.S. Dollars.

Lucky apparently is selling the best of the best for way more than they cost in America.

So now I wonder who Cue will Lucky be selling in 10 year, of the New, Upcoming, or Just Not Famous Cuemaker today.

BCM, Ted Harris, Skip Weston, Jack Madden, Murray Tucker, Jim Buss, or ?

I am still wondering, or hoping to predict the Future of who will be in Vogue in 10 YEARS. Plus be the most in demand Cuemakers. Buy Players, and Collectors.... :D

Gilbert<-- poised to go to the 3-5 year wait

In no particular order

Mark Bear<-- up and coming full spice cuemaker... aka if you cannot wait for a JH get a Bear

Mike Webb<-- Damn fine player's cue... Do yourself a favor get 2... I did :D

Tucker<-- I'm both happy and sad his real job gets in the way.

My hope is both Skip Weston and Andy Gilbert. Skip does some truly awesome work! I've been spoiled by his hardwood "veneers" and outstanding point work. He also does some of the cleanest inlay work I've ever seen. Andy Gilbert does great work too, but, in my opinion, his point and inlay work isn't quite on the same level as Skip's yet. Of course I think they both play great...lol.

I'd like to get me a Gilbert player to go along with my J/B but I'm not buying anymore cues...lol. We've got a couple of us together for a support group if anyone else cares to join. :D :p  :p :D

I agree with you here OHB. Jim made me an absolutely terrific ivory-jointed cue. I sold it to try a heavier cue. Everything on the Buss cue was crisp and precise. It was a simple but elegant 4-point 4 veneer cue with highly figured curly maple forearm. He's a great guy to deal with. Last I heard he had planty of cue orders.

Jim is very well known and respected for his current cues and knowledge - BUT - He is still working 40 hours per week at his engineering profession.
When he finally retires and starts making cues FULL TIME - I think he will make one of the best cues available.

Incredibly nice quality. Love his shaft taper and shaftwood. I liked the way the few I've tried played. His silver into ebony cues are so beautiful. Have you seen Oscar's new one?

Cuemaker

I would have to say it is Trey Uno IV a Florida cuemaker who also runs a small pizzeria. He has been making cues for about 10 years now and was inspired one day while making pizzas to have a shaft put together like wedges in his pizzas.

Other than Trey, I am hoping that John Madden is one of those cuemakers. I also think that Rick Howard is underrated. He makes more than the mace.
