What would it take to solve the 9ball golden break?

Breakshots can play a larger role in pro competition if the racks were more consistent.

The first improvement was the template rack. SVB was the main guy promoting template racks early on. His powerful break was a point of skill and entertainment.

If a device like a template was able to change the game. Then what other template racks would you be interested in.

I can produce and sell a template rack that is a golden break each time.

Early on I got hooked by the stacked ball trickshot. I really thought two billiard balls were stacked perfectly without any devices to support it. I tried for years to get it to work.

Now that I am older, I am hoping to come up with such a novelty shot or device.

If I had to do an open house recruiting event for a pool room, having a template rack that results in a golden break on demand, I think it could be fun to showcase.

On a more technical note:
Slow speed breaks are more predictable, the most famous being 14.1 opening break.

There is a theory that if the breaks were faster and the breakball lighter it could as consistent. My second proposal is for a cueball only used for breaking, its purpose is to be lighter. Then after the breakshot, the cueball is replaced with its normal weight. Why would more consistency in the break shot be beneficial?

It makes it a lot easier to see the standard of performance by the shooter when being measured along one standard shot with high consistency.

Do we want a template that gives golden breaks every time? Even if there is one there are still many unpredictable factors like breakspeed, humidity, slightly differences between every table, dirt on the cloth...

It's not your intention with this thread, but id like to rephrase the question: what results (with elite breaking) would we see as ideal for 9-ball?

A% golden break
B% ball potted on break and offensive shot available
C% ball potted on break but no offensive shot available (safety)
D% ball potted, but push out needed
E% no ball potted

What would be an ideal distribution of A - E?

95% golden break at elite level
68% at amateur level

You’re trying to create a template that has nearly 100% 9-ball on the break??? The professional world is trying to get less of those not more.

Did you never hear of Racking Secrets by Joe Tucker?

Shit, not just the pro world... If we are playing 9ball in the rooms around here, it's usually rack your own with snaps not counting...

This is another moronic thread created by the forum troll.

I actually didn’t initially put “professional,” then remembered that the APA players get pretty excited to get a 9-snap, and many collect rewarded patches for that excellence.

The main selling point for a template rack is a guaranteed golden break for promotional purposes. Rack mechanics know the tricks. DrDave has videos about racking also.

Instant golden break template is to practice breaking a controlled speed break.

The 9ball break dispersion can be more random when practicing without a golden break template.

Its another training aid. It might keep newer players interested in pool for a few extra weeks.

What a joke you are.

You have a huge hole in your understanding of pool and likely the same re: people.

Don't ever leave academia.

Why not eliminate the break altogether and implement computerized random layouts for each new rack? You could have a variety of levels like videogames. This could certainly appeal to Male Slovenians between the age of 20-40 who are already dart players to give pool a shot.

Futuristic thinking. This is what the world needs more of.

I have considered using a vacuum hood over a pool table for automatic placement of balls. The design can only position one ball at a time.

That would combine with the software based layouts nicely.

Choosing the layouts for a match could make pre-match negotiations more fun.

Talking about spots can be boring.

If you ever need to apply for disability, be sure to show them all of your AZB posts.

How is it that the Santa Fe Institute has not snatched you up for a guest lecture…? Or a representative model of a chaotic system?

As a question of science, the original idea is somewhat interesting. Could a template be made that would ensure that the nine would usually go in?

As a question of pool, the question is ridiculous, because if nine on the break (which Pat Fleming has suggested is about a 3% in pro pool) went in even 15% of the time, the rules would be modified so they would not count.

Is there something specific why you would literally be calling me a name? Every APA player I know gets excited on a 9snap. Almost none of them understand it’s due to a bad rack, and they congratulate each other on what they consider a great break. Only the upper level players understand what happens in a 9snap. Meanwhile, the APA gives out patches for what the players perceive as an excellent shot. Many APA player collect them and display them. This is fact.

More name calling??
