Whatever happened to the PBT revival?

I remember about two or three years back the PBT started uploading videos of older matches to their channel and they had guys like Sigel and Davenport interviews players but I don't think they ever did anything else.

Were there any plans for them to do tournaments or even revive the tour? It just dissolved and it went quiet again.

I suspect that the competition for pro tournaments (WNT) was too much for them to get any traction. It's hard for a tour that's starting essentially from zero to compete with one that's in place and international and adds a lot of money to events. I think the best they could hope for is to organize the current "satellite" events in the US into a US tour but it's not clear what they could offer to the rooms/promoters who have already developed those events.

They also have to consider the remaining PBS US events. I think the fact that the PBS had a hard time getting a US tour going, even with a fair amount of investment, indicates tough sledding.

It seems to me that some of the greats from the last generation of pool were trying desperately to cash in on all this new money in pool today that they were denied in their time as players. Unfortunately for them reality is brutal.

Don Mackey was involved, even after he had fleeced the pro players and Camel all those years ago. The fact that he was welcomed back by Pat Fleming at the International Open and had Kim Davenport and Reed Pierce in his booth supporting him made me sick to my stomach.

the website they launched peddled some crypto coin investment deal. i don't think it was ever all that serious in terms of tournament organizing?

Mike Sigel also joined in with Kim Davenport and Reed Pierce in hopes of creating a new tour with Don Mackey, but he then embarked on a new endeavor thereafter.

Sigel found an entity with extremely deep pockets and created the American Billiard League (ABL). His spiel includes the famous mantra, "Cash is King," and he's got $2.5 million to back it up. I heard through the grapevine that the money is real and there for the taking. He has had commercials on social media showing stacks of greenbacks.

Sigel got together with Kevin Trudeau, at that time a multi-millionaire, to create an 8-ball tour, and he's now received the funds to create the ABL. Man does have a strong power of persuasion.

Agreed. Pat has done so much for the sport but decisions in recent years such as you note, also allowing Mike Sigel into the commentary booth the last few years with his arrogant and obnoxious personality, shamelessly hawking his website made all those matches unwatchable unless you had the volume off.

Some people get multiple rounds in this game.

Sigel's been pimping that ABL deal for some time. He was in Tulsa pushing it yrs ago when it first came out. Their site mentions Magoos having a league but afaik they never started one here in Tulsa.
