What's everyone have to say about A.E. Schmidt tables?

Bass, really like them. There set up at all D&B's pocket billiards rooms. A quality family owned business for around 100 years. In Chicago (i think) part of the family handles the retail side and the others handle manufacturing. Whoever you talk to there cares about pool and your sastisfaction no matter what table you buy; since their also a dealer for olhausen. Highly recommended.

OK - for home use.

Great tables made in St. Louis, Mo. I think......randyg

Being from St. Louis, I know quite a lot about A.E. Schmidt. I've known Harold & Art Schmidt for years. They make a nice & pretty home table but if your interested in professional or commercial quality and playability, keep looking. If your in the St. Louis area, send me a PM and I can direct you to a great place.

AE Schmidt

I think AE Schmidt tables have great playability and are very long-lasting. There is a small pool hall in my hometown that has had AE Schmidt tables in it since the early '70's and they still play great. With proper maintenance, the tables could last forever.

i have played on their tables at halls...they are one of the best..highly recommended...i believe they are one of the oldest companies having started i believe approx.in the 1850's !!!!!!!!!!!!!! if i remember right they had a major fire ... in their warehouse about 2 years ago....if you can one of their tables you will like it...good luck ...keep us posted if u get one.... ;)

Must have been a holiday. I get to DannyK's and it's closed. I need to play, so I drive to the mall and find the Dave and Buster's.

The tables are AE Schmidt, and the one we got played like crap. On one of the corner pockets, if you shot a ball harder than pocket speed and it hit the facing, it would fly off the table.

I like my A E Schmidt 9' that I bought 3 months ago. The previous owner got it 20 years ago, the rubber and cloth are not original but the rest of the table that is original is very solid. When I first saw it I had no idea it was 20 years old, it shows no signs of age.

They are a great looking and great playing table. I've played on them at Dave and Buster's in Philly and have no complaints about them at all.

it must have had something to do with d&b's upkeep of the table, they dont consider the real poolplayer, just the families and kids who dont know any better. i've played on them before and theyre a great solid table. i think it just depends on the felt used and maybe the pocket shims

I would assume they did. They only lost half their warehouse IIRC and they had vowed to continue in business.

Snookers in Cincy has 9-foot Robertsons and they play pretty much like Gold Crowns (IMO)

Slate cloth etc.

The table doesn't really matter. If the slate is good, the rails are attached correctly and are good, you have good felt, i.e. Simoniis 860, and it is put together right, It WILL play good. If you get a crappy playing table, it either wasn't put together right, wasn't kept up in condition, or it's made of MDF instead of slate. One piece slate is only better if the person setting up multi piece slate doesn't know what they're doing or are lazy/.
