What's Good About A Good Stroke?

a preview from the new AZ video series - coming soon

You have effectively put yourself in a situation that your accuracy will improve with acceleration. If a "straight ball" hitter relies on acceleration it will only amplify the range of their misses (left OR right). Utilizing the "Touch of Inside" the scenario changes where you will be more accurate when accelerating which is adding another positive habit. Your Game is a direct representation of how many positive habits you have "packaged".

Margin of error for a machine is something you can calculate in a simple formula because a machine has no "Touch". With a human being, margin of error is often effected by the chosen perception of reality. You will generate more "Touch" by adjusting how you choose to see a situation, or target, reducing unwanted variatables - this is another way to reduce margin of error.
As human beings we want to reduce "moving parts", and systematically put ourselves in a position to perform consistently.

Hitting the primary target in pool {The Cue Ball} on the same side achieves this and enables us to stroke with more confidence. This confidence adds something to our pocket billiard games that is essential (in my opinion), A SENSE OF WELL BEING. This "sense" far outweighs any simple "margin of error" because it effects your whole Persona* and makes The Game MUCH more rewarding to the player. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Sorry CJ I just have to say this post is almost laughable but for the fact you appear serious, trade secrets really now, just what are you trying to sell?

I could name a thousand players that have won more tournaments than you have ever entered that have never needed your trade secrets and best techniques :roflmao:

I am not trying to be confrontational but when I see blatant nonsense presented to the billiard community as fact it's just my nature to say hang on a minute there are children watching.

Using your stroke to MAKE IT....that's the important thing after all

That's right, it doesn't really matter how you achieve it, but you must learn to get down on the shot as if you've already made it. You may go through a few "systems" before you find the one that really clicks.

However sometimes you just have to "Fake it Til You Make It" and just get down with confidence and stroke the ball as if YOU KNOW it's going in. Then, if you undercut/overcut it, adjust and DO IT AGAIN. If you make it this time, just "file it away in your unconscious" and shoot ANOTHER angle/shot and do the same thing.

You'll start to see things that CONNECT between the two balls that you can duplicate. When this happens you're on the right track FOR YOU. At some moment it will be like "Connecting the dots" to create the right angle and you'll see the entire shot in your "mind's eye". 'The Game is the Teacher'

Well business first: What's Good About A Good Stroke?

A good stroke is good because it is good in fulfilling it's desired (and good) purpose, in a good repeatable manner... :)

On a side note...

What a complete crock of bullshit. I feel sorry for people gullible enough to suck this crap up.

nobcity: We should get together and hit some, I think I'm close to your area. Not woofing, probably get my arse handed to me... Have never had a lesson, especially from Scott Lee, but would be fun; and just trying to come back from a twenty year layoff or so (at least those are my pool player excuses)... :grin-square:

I need a good sparring partner, how about you? PM me with details if you want ~ where do you play out of in Noblesville? Play in league? Need a teammate?

Best wishes and peace...

Just passing time until the Mosconi Cup teams can be announced.

There are some interesting posts in here.

Just passing time until the Mosconi Cup teams can be announced.

Looks like you're "Brand New", welcome to azbilliards Forum. It's kinda like a pool room, there's all kinds of characters. And I do mean "all kinds".

Yes, and lately it's all about piling on on CJ. I guess he shouldn't be contributing any of his knowledge. Otherwise there will be pool instructors ready to call him an imposter.

It has nothing to do with "piling on CJ". He's out for sales, more power to him. It has a LOT to do with correcting mis-information, and sometimes outright nonsense. It has a LOT to do with wanting to help people actually get better at the game and having correct info put on here. Doesn't matter who it is, a pro player, or a pro instructor, if wrong info is put out, they will get called on it. If you doubt it about instructors, just look at the CTE threads. MANY called Stan out on it. They were proven wrong in the end, but he still got called on it and had to back up what he was saying. Which, unlike some on here, he did.

Seriously, do you think for one second that the Mosconi Cup team will be sitting in the corner hammering nails while chanting "we can do it, we are the best"??

yea sorry about that, I don't subscribe to blind faith.

Well Scott I watched Kung fu when I was twelve and believed all that crap too lol, then I watched a rerun once when I was 30 and felt ashamed.

Ok, someone has to take a stand. It's one thing to challenge some of CJ's postings, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit by and let you dis Kung Fu.

"how do people play for 30 years and never get any better?"

The main question I've had answered on this forum that I never could understand is "how do people play for 30 years and never get any better?"

Thanks to this experience, now I know. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Keep posting, CJ. Your thoughts are welcome as far as I'm concerned. I can't understand the outright rudeness some of these guys are sending your way. I can understand being skeptical and saying so, but why do they post every time you do? Make your point and quit being an OCD troll about every bit of info. Ask CJ for the 5 ball or let the discussion move on.

You've got a full stable of stalkers and they're all hitting the refresh button right now...hoping to get you riled up! Interrnet bullies who get braver the tamer your posts get. Fade their comments.

One of my best friends played on the Camel tour and has been following these threads. He said you're crazy trying to help these people. He won't even register because of all the know it alls. Sheesh! :ignore:

Best,
Mike

Somehow, I kinda doubt it.

CJ, was this your plan? If so, I missed it in all the posts on here.
