Just curious what everyone carries in their case as necessary equipment for cue maintenance. Sorry for being such a newbie. :o

No reason to apologize

I carry a custom Norwela with one more on the way, Carolina Custom, no-name jump/break, bag of powder, couple pieces of chalk, several different types of tip scuffer, small Talisman towel, Q-Claw, various types of pads and suck to clean shaft. Oh and my case is a Talisman. I'm sure I left some stuff out but that should be the bulk of it.

I carry a few pieces of chalk, a tip tool, a burnishing cloth, a towel and a pack of smokes. I also carry a j&j b/j cue and any of several cues from a perry to a tascarella in either of my instroke cases.

varney break cue, varney playing cue, three gloves, few chalks, (blue masters of course), moosehead bridge thingy (very good), an ob-1 shaft, couple of paper towels.

Kruger 28G, two pieces of Master's (blue and green) and an Ultimate Tip Tool in an el-cheapo Laperti case.

That's it. I clean my shaft with a paper-towel which I get from the gentlemen's room ;-)

Regards,

Detlev

Aside from the cues (Pechaur play, Nat. Break/Jump)

• Tip Shapers;
A friend of mine named 'Billy Cash' makes these custom tip-shapers that are awesome. You might think that a tip-shaper is just a tip shaper, but these provide real ease-of-use, it's not like the Ult.TipTool which you need to set on the floor and 'create fire'. And These look great, too.

• Q-Wiz, Micro Mesh, Magic Eraser (only use with alcohol)
Gotta keep that shaft feeling smooth.

• Razor blades;
For rare tip maintenance, and just in case someone wants to get cute. ;)

• Visine Eye Drops;
They make me feel refreshed when playing a super-long session.

• Baby Powder;
In case I walk into a joint that's super humid.

I'd like to find out, also. So far the items most everyone has in common are a tip tool and something to wipe the shaft.

junk

i carry my bluegrass playing cue. bk2 and a second break cue. as far as the odds and ends-tylenol, aleeve, tums, visine, band aid, ultimate tip tool, varner sand paper assortment, keller adjustabridge, towel , powder. and when i play may wallet, cell phone and keys.

In my case...
Just a little something to keep everyone friendly.:D

Magic Eraser works OK with alcohol, but works much better with water when you need serious cleaning. There was a thread a few months ago that explained the reason. Just wipe well with 91% alcohol when you're done to evaporate any excess moisture, and tape off the joint between shaft and ferrule so no water creeps in. IMO, ME is for serious cleaning at home, since you will need to spend some time polishing and burnishing before shaft is ready to play. I carry some disposable alcohol pads and a microfiber cloth in my case for cleaning at the hall, as well as a piece of unfinished leather and/ or brown shopping bag pieces for burnishing.
