What's the best Jump Cue?

Jump cue

Best jump cue I have owned was the X-jumper. I liked the weight, the diameter and it jumped with almost no effort. These are no longer made and were very limited in production.

jacoby

If im particularly good at anything consistanly its jumping a ball! I say Jacoby's jump cue is the best. Its design allows you to either ("dart" or "poke") the cue for a quick hop or or to hit it like you would like a normal shot with the cue.

The weight is nice where it allows you to easilly go through the ball. For the money im all in on Jacobys jump cues!

In general, the best jump cue is the same the best playing cue. It's depend on your skill to be familiar with. So choose any jump stick that you can afford, and practice practice. That's my opinion.

Thanks for all the input guys appreciate it.
Just curious, anybody know what's Steve Lomax's handler in AZ?

My vote goes to Steve Lomax (note I know the Mezz, no doubt one of the better jump cues out there, but I'm not sure I know the latest generation Pechauer). The real question is how one defines "easy to jump". People who simply couldn't do it loved e.g. Predator's Air Jump cue when it first hit the market, because they could finally make get the cue ball airborne. In competition, however, provided one knows how to jump a ball, what it all boils down to is make-percentage, getting the elevation perfect given distance, angle, obstruction, as well as play position - in other words, a repeatable result. A Lomax does that better than any jump cue I've tried. And I don't mean to say it's in any way more "difficult" to get the cue ball airborne, on the contrary, I'm a short guy with a strained finger joint in my bridge hand pinky that's not going to heal, and ever since I use a Lomax, I neither have to toe nor elevate my bridge hand to where my finger joint gives way. Couldn't wish for a better jump cue.

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

I have used a number of different jump cues, for production jump cues hard to beat the Stealth AT1. The advantage is it is a 3-piece jump cue that gives you a longer jump cue or a normal length (40") jump cue as needed. Watching video there is also the Jester jump cue (3-piece) construction. Several on e-bay at this time.

NOTE: I have seen all these cues jump a credit card width jump shot like using just the shaft that makes it easier to jump with. Can I do it no, but a full ball width I can jump with the Stealth.

Anyway for me the 3-piece tends to be the way to go regardless of the specific jump cue.

I've used Lomax jump cues and they are great, but of all I've tried, nothing beats a Jacoby jump cue.

Have to say, I have never tried a LOMAX, because I have never even seen a LOMAX, so I can't judge. I purchased a FURY Jump/break several years ago at the BCA-VEGAS tourney. I have used it sparingly over the years, and of all the ones I have, if I really need to get over a ball, I use the FURY.

Paid $145 for the j/b cue, the price is still the same. There's just something "comfortable" about the jump part of the FURY. If anyone around you has one, give it a try.

Well I'll say it. lucasi
I was tired of having to work so hard at getting air with a lot of jump cue I tried.
Went to a Seattle shop one time, spent the afternoon playing pool on a converted snooker table with the owner.
We got testing jump cues and I was sold on the lucasi for its control and ease to get air. Its not American made or custom but the dam thing works great. I only use it for the money shots, any other time I kick or masse. You dont get the squirt with it on the landing ether.

Cheep but effective.

Just curious, but would you post a picture of it? I always wanted to see what it looked like...

What 'makes' one jump cue better than another - size, weight, wood, taper?

My opinion is that weight is a big factor followed by tip.
On a jump, a lighter cue bounces out of the way faster creating an easier jump
more air with less effort.

I also think that a lighter cue doesn't impart english so easily if your hit is slightly left or right. IMO I want that knuckle ball jump so it travels straight after the bounce.

I am sure Lomax is a good jumper, never used one, I think the Jacoby is hard to beat, picked up one this year at the Derby and it has been great. For a less expensive jumper, the Tadpole or Frog are good jumpers also. Tom

Best Jump Cue?

If you're strictly talking about a jump cue only, there are lots of choices and it's mostly a matter of personal preference. However, the type of tip makes all the difference. The harder the tip, the better it jumps. Since they've banned the phenolic tips at many tournaments and in some league play, the Samsara jump tips are the best, in my opinion. They are extremely hard and jump well, but still hold chalk for breaking, if they're on a combination jump/break cue. Again - my opinion only - but the best jump/break cues are made by Andy Gilbert. That opinion is shared by a lot of top players.

BEST is like High, how high is high? Person preference is what BEST IS! JMHO.

I have a Jump Cue with a Tiger Ice Breaker Tip, it work for me well, could be the BEST, but I am not saying so.

IMHO it is the Tip, not the BRAND of Cue that does the MAGIC.

Robin Dobson has some Tadpoles, and Frogs JUMP Cues under 100 BUCKS. They work Magic as Robin has mastered JUMPING TECHNIQUE!

I've owned several jump cues before. A random taiwanese jumper, Ashwood Gino Ferrari, predator air, Mezz airdrive and tried a friend's stealth. Am using a lomax jumper now, I have to say it's the best among those I've used. Easy to jump and has really good control my opinion of course. All the other jump cues were sold off except for the Gino Ferrari which I kept for spare:smile:

Rat!

Rat 3 peice Jump cues are GREAT! They look good and play even better.
The Air is a good jumper, but I could not get the aim down with it. Peachuer is a great jumper as well.
