What's the best shaft?

The best shaft is......

Ob? Predator? Tiger? And why I'm looking too just buy a shaft for my custom what's ur view? What's the best feel ect?

The best shaft is without question the elevator shaft, I hate taking the stairs.
in all seriousness , I played with 6 different LD shafts before I chose OB. Everyone has different taste so it would be a mistake to get one without him shooting with it first. There are a couple that I hated, and if I got one for free I would never use it. Give him the money or go with him to try out.

So u have a OB

To the OP:
If someone told you convincingly what the absolute best shaft was, and you hated how it feels, would you keep shooting with it? Probably not right? So you'll just have to try several.

I have a dozen LD shafts and the only one I can play with is the 1st gen predator. It has much mor squirt and I swear it increased over the years which tells me something...

Freddie <~~~ needs an ultra speed camera

You can do a pretty simple deflection test without special equipment, though it's not totally scientific. A helper makes it easier.

Chalk up fully, use a stripe as your cue ball, put it on either spot. Rotate it until it's facing you. Aim as carefully as possible to hit the center of the end rail. Adjust your cue to apply heavy english, either side. Aim to hit some definite target on the ball like the edge of the number ring, or the edge of the stripe.

Now just smack the ball hard (hard enough that it has no time to swerve) and note where it hits the end rail. It may help to have a friend place a piece of chalk wherever it hits. You should also have a chalkmark on the ball to verify your tip hit your chosen spot.

Repeat with a different shaft, until your chalkmark is in the same place and you're reasonably sure your speed was the same. If it hit closer to the center of the endrail, it deflected less. If you wanted to be more thorough you could use a phone app to measure the speed of both hits too.

Just a ? Does the ob have a real stiff hit too it? I was messing around with my break cue other night its real stiff I like the feel and sound of that is that what the OB will be like? That's what I'm wanting my break cue has the real short ferrl

I have a mezz wd700 and its stiff but i want something stiffer. Alex P let me hit a couple balls with his OB pro shaft after he shot my nuts in at the Swannee. I like the hit alot and I like the skinny shaft. I will be getting one and putting it on my Judd butt. I will let you know how I like it once I pull the trigger.

Yea I think I'm gonna go with the ob my self everyone says its real stiff hit and crisp feel that's what I want most I shot with my break cue just messing around its real stiff and liked it lol so I'm sure ill love the ob

Uh oh. It feels weird to say it, I like my OB2 but the hit is not stiff IMO. I almost wanna say you should think twice even though it's the shaft I like.

If anything it feels a little "mushy". It's hollow at the top and I believe has a little rubber core. Neither of those things make a hit 'stiff'.

A lot of it may have to do with the tip. I think I have a moori medium. Anyway my buddy's predator ikon5 (which I think has the same tip) feels like a stiffer hit.

I think this just goes to show that how a cue feels is totally subjective. One guy feels it's stiff, another guy says "no it's like a wet noodle"... you can't trust other people's feelings. You really should hit balls with one yourself. You see OB2's and Z2's in every pool hall, you can probably just walk up to someone and say "hey I was thinking of getting one of those, how's it hit?" ...a lot of people will offer to let you try hitting a few balls, though a few are very protective of their cue.

shaft

Solid Maple.

One that stays straight year after year.

Everyone has different opinion, and new stuff is being invented everyday.

i have used the predators and the mcdermott i shafts and others, as it has been said to you before in this thread its all a personal preference, i personally settled with jacobys hybrid, i definetely think that their equipment is as good or better than anyone elses so check them out
