Whats the best STEAL you got a cue for and what is it?

And i thought my deals were good..obviously not that good

Got a predator Sneaky Pete (with SS joint) for 50 Canadian (thats like 20Cents US - no wait, dollar has gone done..its like 25 cents in US). The predator was in 98% + condition.. Perfectly know not even much chalk dust on the shaft (barely noticeable).

A meucci (relatively nice meucci - checked it out online about 400 US street price). Got it for 30 Canadian because the linen wrapwas coming off and had unwrapped about 2-3 inches.. took it to a local cuemaker to get the wrap done for 35 bucks.

Nice bargains guys this is what i was hoping i would hear. I have no luck stories but i am always hopeful thats why i try to learn alot about all cues so i know if its a deal or not.;)

Rempe tired of one of the Adams cues with which he had competed, and sold it to me used for $75 during the 1980 World 14.1 Championships. Though it was never my favorite playing cue, it was a nice cue, and it broke my heart when it was stolen in 1998.

And no i didnt mean steal as in stealing.lol I mean like have you found something that was worth a lot and paid little for it? I always hope to find some old school custom cue at a yard sale or something one can always hope. Share your cue finds here please. :D

About 6 years ago I bought a brand new Falcon Cue with a Predator shaft for $850. I quit pool a year later and sold it(along with a case) for $450 to this kid.Apparently the kid relapsed on crack and the cue ended up in the pawn shop.

A couple years later the addiction kicks in again and I relapse back into the pool scene and I'm looking to buy a cue.A friend in the pool hall walks up to me and low and behold he's got my old Falcon/Predator combo, complete with my old($150)Silver Fox case.He then tells me he picked up the cue and case earlier that day down at the local pawn shop (which happens to be the one I walk right passed DAILY on my way to work) for $100 measly bucks.I offer him $200 and he tells me how about $450.I can't stomach the fact of him making $350 and decline. Two cues and a few years later, I'm quite happy with my Layani.

It's amazing how low a desperate crack addict will let a cue go for (when the addiction kicks in) and it's amazing how ignorant so many pawn shop owners are when it comes to cues.RJ

Goes back a few years

I went to my grandmothers complex and played daily at her rec-room. An older fella asked me if I was interested in a cue he had and I said sure. He came back with a black Brunswick flip-top case and pulled out this plain four point Balabushka. He said his kids had no desire to have it and he wanted me to have it seeing that I was practicing everyday. He said he would sell it to me for what he paid for it...$115. I sadly lost that cue and two other very playable older cues to water damage suffered in Hurricane Andrew 12 years later in 1992. :(

My Balabushka

When I was about 18 years old I allowed a 3 cushion billiard player $75 against his cue after beating him out of about $175 cash. We were playing 9-Ball.
He had just won the cue about 6 weeks earlier from a great One-Pocket player (Gordon Guy), while playing 3 cushion. I knew Gordon had just ordered it from George Balabushka about 2 months before he lost it.
It played terrible because it was way too butt heavy. I took it apart and found that the 3 cushion billiard player had put Shot Gun Shot into the butt and then poured hot solder in there to weld it all together. I took an Ice Pick and started to loosen it up and all the stuff came out.
I played with it for over 25 years on the road and it is now in a safety deposit box with all the authenticity papers (from John Wright) and a certified offer of $23K from a dentist in Dallas. I also have about 18 shafts from George/Gus with it and the original shipping tube from George. I had run an ad in The Billiard Digest. It is shown in the Blue Book Of Cues. To this day, Buddy Hall says it is the sweetest hitting cue he has ever played with. Very Solid hit and extremely well balanced.
PRETTY GOOD DEAL!

I was at the house taking down the table and she said take all the sticks on the floor with me (about 25 of them). In the pile was Two McD's and $2500 josswest!!! A week later sold the pool table for $1200 with new felt! Sold the two McD's for $350 and $450! :D
