Just looking for ideas, I am recovering my table tomorrow and was curious as to what the best way to cover the end of the rails by the side pockets. The person before me folded it over and didn't get it very tight. I am determined to do a better job and thought someone here would be willing to share some knowledge.

Besy way

I,m located in northeast Missouri. I am committed to doing this myself though, not because I think a pro couldn't do a better job but because I really want to do it myself.
Thanks for the info Dartman, it will come in handy.

Agree

Many times it is cheaper to have a pro do it. But sometimes it is not a option.

Not being a mechanic from what I have seen is Valley BB will just wrap it over the edge. All others fold it.

There is always the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Many times I have had a "pro" do something and ended up redoing it because they were not as professional as they claim.

The side pocket fold is fun.. Rember to have 3-4 inches of over hang or it wont work on side pockets for beginers.

1. way is to cut out all extra material so to only have one piece of cloth on the facing material roll the edge and pull down tight as possible. I have seen it but don't even try to do it. I think this is the hardest one.

2. easiest You need to do a high fold have a small dull screwdriver or wood shim to keep the extra material in the fold so it wont get in the way of point of contact when the ball hits the facing. Easy to spot white line right on the fold when cloth gets dirty/old.

You still pull cloth down to keep it tight with out pulling point of cusion down.

3. same fold but you back cut out a 15-20 degree pie shaped piece of cloth to get rid of bulky fold @ the top near the facing roll the edge and pull down tight watching the point. The cut takes a little practice to see how far to cut towards the nose cut to much and you have a fradied pointand looks bad but you dont have a bulky white line from the fold.

Easier to be shown then to be told picture might help a little but not much practice with regular cloth or felt from fabric store before installing Simmonis or championship cloth Depending on your touch with a staple gun and how many tries cloth tears a little easy from to many staples being removed to master the pull and staple.

Keep a good sample from the last guys who did the table to see the pattern then pull it tighter. take picture of the unfolding of the rail.
