What's the deal with Meucci?

My favorite Moochie joke:
Do you know how to make a Moochie double in value?
Tape a $20 dollar bill to it.:grin::grin:

In Meucci's defense...somewhat.

I used to sell Meucci cues, but I stopped for the same reasons as stated by other posters in this thread. Somewhat in Meucci's defense, however, let me state that I can understand their predicament. They have a lot of stiff competition from importers of Chinese cues. The Chinese have steadily increased the quality of their cues (and all of their products, actually) to the point that it just doesn't make sense to buy an equivalent American made production cue, and spend three times as much for it.

I believe Meucci has been forced to cut everything from labor costs, to material costs; and thereby sacrifice quality and customer service, all in an effort to lower their wholesale and retail prices, and just try to remain in business.

I hope that one day things will turn around for Meucci and all other American manufacturers.

McDermott and Viking don't seem to be having too much trouble competing.

Money , money ,money.....MONEY! Meucci could have scaled production down, keeping quality up. Schon as an example, is a production cue done in smaller amounts with excellent quality control and top grade materials....and yes even they turn out a turd now and then. As said Viking and Mcdermot continue to do ok. Meucci lost q.c. and customer service which = NO SALES in turn = out of business eventually. Even the Meucci's of old had shaft problems with bad roll out or complete warping. I know, I owned enough of them. I can't lie though I did like them! This was due to using green uncured maple. Now its plastics and cheap grade of other materials. If Bob and a couple others get together building the cues themselves and decide they want to make small batches with top grade wood and inlay material you could see the once great company back again. First get rid of the "myth destroyer" and get busy building Bob!
