I have improved my game immensely watching youtube videos but am once again at a plateau. Which youtube videos do you watch? I have several on my favorites list but would like to add more ... if they are worth it.

Here are a few channels that I've been watching videos from, please share your faves as well:

If any of these video makers are here on AZ, THANK YOU for providing a free resource that has helped me greatly.

What tip do you use? Maybe consider changing the hardness.

I'm playing with bar cues so I'm using whatever they have at their disposal. I prefer softer tips but I don't think the problem is in the tip, it's more likely the fact I use powerful shots very often so I never aquired the right feeling for very light strokes. I don't really go for position play anyway, I even prefer one shot at a time action.

I voted "break" and "other".
In my case, "other" stands for "technical inconsistencies". There are days when I feel my technique is lacking, and as a result I get weaknesses in everything. Then there days when my technique is solid and the weakest part of my game is my break. It's not like an on/off switch, it changes in varying degrees.

Motivation

Hard for me to try like I used to, because I'm no longer broke....

Just when I think I've heard everything, things arrive which surprise me...

...I feel like such a potato now. I really thought everyone would cluster around cue ball control...

Okay, I voted "other".

My wobbly stroke is the weakest part of my game.

Maniac (could've chosen MANY others :o)

Sorry, I missed this before.

It may be worth you investing in a tip shaping tool. You can always use it to make sure your bar cue isn't totally flat-spotted. Might help a bit...

I find that some days are more wobbly than others. The worst thing is playing after I've been carrying heavy stuff. My muscles seem to behave very differently on such occasions. :-/

I find this, too. I also find that if I take more than a week or two off from playing my stroke turns super-wobbly for the first hour or two of playing again.

Long distance direct straight shot!! my worst. long distance at any angle other than perfectly straight and im good. but perfectly straight shot at long distance i suck.

10 foot tables

I played on a 12 foot snooker table once and that was like a huge ship! I will stick with the 9 footers!!. my bigest stumbling block is my being to tense. I listen to my mp3 when I am practing and everything seems to just flow, but with out my tunes to keep me fluid, I tense up, and its downhill from there. so staying relaxed and focus is my areas I constantly struggle with. 'It sure is a personal challenge. I enjoy solitary practice, drills, and having no one watching.

I'll see about that, thanks for the advice. However, what pisses me off way more is when I miss a full-powered shot because of a bad or damaged tip. sometimes I even lost because of that

- The break
- positional play
- taking easy shots for granted

Probably the biggest "weak" spot which is both good and bad... is the enjoyment I get out of playing. It is good because I can just screw around, play with friends, not be a robot trying to just destroy all I play in the game. I can hang out and just have fun playing. The bad part is due to this I don't play serious enough to improve and become the "best I can be" whatever that level may be.

I have had many friends ask why I don't try for it since I was blessed with natural ability...I guess besides just having real life and a job etc, that I don't want to be the guy who loses his enjoyment out of the game and stops playing with friends because they aren't good enough etc....it's not me!

My desire to play the game and practice. I used to look forward to it, now it's a chore:(.

This is what held my game back, i just wouldnt practice, i couldnt play for fun or practice, i would lose interest with in 30 mins, i never played unless i was gambling.

I could not play pool for months and get up and still play my speed, if i would of made myself practice i believe i would of been a better player!

Consistency

Staying interested in my self-practice sessions. Nothing beats a live game, but I also understand nothing beats a person who actually puts in some good solid practice/drill time....which I simply cannot. Therefore, my consistency is horrid, but worse, people CAN TELL.
