I'm curious of those who are on AZB who play APA what their rank is in 8-Ball. Please don't turn this into why APA's handicap system sucks or such. This is just a curiosity question...

Please be honest as I know everyone on the board isn't a 7...

Myself, I'm now a 5, slowly getting back to where I was playing 15 years ago...

I recently played in a regional singles tourney, and was pushed to a 5 after a great day on Saturday. I was still listed as a 4 on the score sheet during league play last night. The regional was 2 weeks ago. I guess I am on the edge of 5

:)

I quit playing APA in the early 90s when I was rated a 7.

I'm not sure what todays handicapping system would rank me.

Seems so long ago. But it was better for me. I started playing in more tournaments and didn't have to make a commitment to play a night or two every week.

Guy on our team won his reginal bracket 2 weeks ago and went up to a 7 during the toury, still listed on our sheet for this week as a 6... I think it takes awhile for the tourny results to show up on the weekly sheets... But they say play what is listed on the sheet...

LO saw me play in a tournament and found me a team, never was in APA before. He started me as a 5. 3rd week became a 6, 10th week became a 7, only one in my current division. Only play one night a week and would be in a 3-way tie for 3rd in most break and runs if they hadn't missmarked them for 8-breaks :)

I might be an SL7 if they didn't serve tasty cold beer while I waited to play. :D

So I'm a six right now. :frown:

Seriously though, there's a big universe above a new APA SL7.

Very big.

I'll take drinking the cold tasty beer any day of the week! Pool is just a sport... Drinking beer is a lifestyle! :)

You and I have a lot in common. Stoped playing the APA for that reason.

Weak and weaker

Weeeak 6 in 8ball and wwweeeeeeeaaaakkkkkker 8 in 9ball, gotta love the old APA the only place a C player can almost be at the top of the pack

About 2 years ago I started back up in the APA. Was a 4 when I quit in 1991. The LO said my records were lost even though I had my old number. Was issued a new number. Played a race to 3 the first night and next week I was ranked a 7. Stayed a 7 for about 9 months. Then decided to take some lessons from a instructor. Was shown how bad I was. Started working on the stuff to correct my stroke and other stuff.

My game got worse and I am now a 6.

Seem to have had a lot of faith in your instuctor. What was his name?

I became a 6 playing 8 ball on the bar tables. Now I play on the big tables and I am probably playing as a 5, but here's the catch. I went to Vegas last year as 6. Therefore I can never go down.
Here's any interesting apa rule I found out this year. Once you reach a skill level you can never go down more than one skill level, ever. That means even if you didn't go to Vegas and lock in at a skill, but you reached a skill of let's say 5 no matter what you ever did you could not go down to a 3.
