Whats your butt weigh?

I'm playing with a Samsara that's right on 14 oz. 17.5 total. I feel I don't need anything heavier, I have a powerful stroke, works for me.
It is not important to have what you referred to as a powerful stroke. In fact, it can become a hindrance
if used too much. The most thing is to have a straight pool stroke that extends thru & beyond the cue ball.

Unintended spin can turn into the kiss of death that rattles object balls in the jaws of tight corner pockets.
If you stroke straight and with measured, controlled cue ball speed, then you’re on the road to playing great.

After a certain point consistency is really all that matters - if you can get that down early then you're better off later. Building blocks and tools.

Break cue butt: 15oz
Playing cue butt #1: 12oz
Playing cue butt #2: 11.5oz
Playing cue butt #3: 13oz

I like the exactness I can get with a lighter butt. Not saying you cant be exact with heavier butts , Im just speaking on my preferences.
Plus the lighter butts slighty off set stiffer hitting cf shafts like revo.
I.E. it slightly lessens the energy transfer while not compromising the legnth of the stroke.
It also changes the balance point to be perfectly horizontal while holding from the middle of grip . At least thats how it is for me with my primary cue butts ,which butt 1 is birds eye 4pt , and butt 2 which is just standard hard rock maple 4pt.
Would you share who made them?

Some people like a light cue while others prefer a heavier one. I have tried them all. I prefer to play with a very light cue with a thinner butt. I have had cues I would have liked to play with if only they were light enough. It is not uncommon for the weight of a cues butt to be about what I want the entire cue to weigh.
I think 14.8 - 15.2 would be average? What could you get yours down to if you wanted it as light as possible. I can't believe how light the cue I just picked up was, and then I found a .6 oz weight in it as well. With no weight in it it's almost 12. oz no kidding!
Seriously??😉

Been working on that lately, been doing a lot of positional drills, I found myself ALWAYS using too much sidespin, not taking into account the natural angles and ending up with worse position by using too much sidespin, I must admit, it truly looks impressive, until the end of the match when you are congratulating the guy moving on to the next round......

Its converted cue butts from Elite, schmelke (older schmelke , the newer ones have quality issues).
I put them on a lathe & core out excess to reach my desired balance & weight.
I do it without compromising the weight bolt thread , so that I can add weight if I need to.
Ive also swapped joint pins in the case where I need to subtract or add weight to the front end.
If done correctly,
Its cost effective & makes for a great player, kinda puts a differnt spin on the term sneaky pete.

"Whats your butt weigh?"

As per my usual practice for important matters I asked my wife, otherwise known as The Crazy Redhead.

I am currently sheltering in place in my office closet. I have my go bag with water, first aid kit, pistol/ammo, some food, and othe basic survival gear.

I am considering various escape routes and tactical maneuvers but she has me pretty well pinned down. Supplies will only last a few days.

Guidance or instructions would be appreciated as well as prayers.

Oh, I did ask AI and it said I am doomed.

Since the response from The Crazy Redhead was unsatisfactory, I will offer my highly experienced expert opinion.

The specifications do not matter.

My Joss does indeed have a balance point, diameter, and weight. All of my over 200 cues do.

I have well proven over the course of many years that the diameter, weight, balance point, taper, etc. do not matter. I shoot like crap with every combination.

In spite of this I continue to gather data, it could change. 👍
