It is not important to have what you referred to as a powerful stroke. In fact, it can become a hindranceI'm playing with a Samsara that's right on 14 oz. 17.5 total. I feel I don't need anything heavier, I have a powerful stroke, works for me.

Unintended spin can turn into the kiss of death that rattles object balls in the jaws of tight corner pockets.
If you stroke straight and with measured, controlled cue ball speed, then you’re on the road to playing great.
