Whats your high run in any game?

Congrats on your 100 ball run Jimmy. That is a great accomplishment.

My high runs.

9-ball: 7 on a bar table, 6 on a 9ft.
8-ball: Maybe 1 rack? I never play the game.
14.1: 71 I missed a really easy shot because I realized how many I had run!

Congrats to everyone for their great accomplishments.

Straight Pool..Pro Cut Diamond 108

9-ball.. 5 and 6 and 7 racks *the 5 was against Dallas West in the Tar Heel Open-Aug. 1984..won the match 11 to 4 as reported by tournament director, Grady Matthews in Nat'l. Billiard News.

Stan Shuffett

9 year old son/Landon....4 racks of 9-ball on Valley 7 footer....... no 9s on break or combos

Stan, I have been around this game a long time and never have I enjoyed watching anyone play more than Landon. You not only taught him to play well, it's easy to see you have raised him well. My compliments sir.....$Bill

9-ball, 8-ball, straight pool, whatever it is, what's your high run? I've got a high run of 7 racks in 9-ball, not sure about 8-ball, and maybe 40 balls in straight pool.
On a 4 1/2 x 9' I have run 6 racks too many times to count (many on a table with 4" pockets), so 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's were abundant. On one occassion I ran 6 and out in two matches in a row. It was a McDermott Tournament at Mr. Billiards in Baldwin Park, CA. Louis Ulrich had me 8-3 and I ran 6 and out. In the next match, I was playing Jose Parica and it was 3-3, and I ran 6 and out! Case game, Every ball I got a little more out of line and by the time I got to the nine, I was rail to rail banking...and I drilled it!
On a bar box for $20- a game, I ran 9; 5 racks of of 8-ball, then the guy I was playing changed the game to 9-ball after I ran the 5 playing 8-ball, and then ran 4 racks of 9-ball. Boy did I burst his bubble. Never really played much straight pool, but have run in the 60's multiple times. Never could get out of the 5th rack.
But don't worry, once the cue repair took over my life, I dogged it and lost the cash on too many occassions! I sorta feel like I turned into sucker for a while...so much so, that I quit for a time to regroup...and then my journey to becoming a cuemaker began, then I got married, then, well, you know the rest of the story. I was always a highly emotional player, and I would go crazy at times! I really don't know what is going to happen now. I am a little older, wiser, calmer, been through a lot of stuff that makes me stronger. Hopefully, I will be able to play at that speed again, and also be a little smarter.

The Best of Times

In the Best of times...during the last 30 years...
14.1 = 102 on a 10' with the old "clay" balls
14.1 = 262 on a 9'
3 cushion - 16
snooker - 141
english billiards - 161
Rotation - 2 racks
9 ball - one set, race to 11 !
8 ball - too many to count on a bar box/only about 4 or 5 on a 9'
one pocket - all 15 / a few times
banks - all 15

Some "old" highlights....

Saw Keith run 22 playing 9 ball at the "old" Hardtimes...Costa Mesa, CA

Saw Ed Kelly run 489 without missing a ball...AND...
saw Boston Shorty run 8-9-10 / 3 cushion...next game ran 10-9-3-8
both in Las Vegas...same week

9-ball, 7 racks twice. 8-ball, 5 racks many times( all on 9 footers). straight pool, 73 balls. snooker, 72 i think ( not from the break).

In tournements since I don't keep track in practice cause i might just pick up a ball and move it.
8 ball 9 footers:5 for the set
9 ball: 8 if u count a rack or two where I broke, ducked, and then was out from the one.
Str8, never played
bank 8

thats about it
once though and my highlight is I was playing someone and won the evening matches a 38-2 in 8 ball.
not bad!!!

Both in 8-ball and 9-ball multiple 4 packs including breaks. Never had a chance of running 5 racks in 9-ball (?!) Always had a dry break or was snookered after the break on the 5th rack  Nowadays paying attention on running 2-3 racks very often rather than running 4-5 very seldom.. also, I rather play a good safety over an overambitious attacking shot to keep my break going.

In 14.1 I've run 82 in practice and 63-out-unfinished in a tournament. Was trailing 58-12 in a race to 75 and gave my opponent a nice headache by running out :) Also, I've run 88 on a 6' x 12' snooker table and a 6 in 3-cushion carom, but I usually average around .400 in 3C.

My goal is to run over 100 in straight pool and snooker someday...

Oh, all the "feats" were done in 9' tables. I never play on a bar box, hate 'em.

I take it Arjack is not your real name. Anyone that good in Vancouver I would know. I would think Potier is not any higher then a 11 game set of 9-ball, but he likely has afew 147's, same thing with Gollan who I believe is actually from Kelowna anyhow. 262 is a very high run of straight pool as well.

9 Ball - 5 racks a few times

14.1 - 77 many moons ago but never play it anymore and I get too frustrated
when I now run a couple of racks and miss an easy one or blow a
break shot. Makes me want to pull a Dr. Cues Protege stunt.

8 Ball - 2-3 at most, I can't even remember. Probably 2. Not only am I very
unlucky with the spreads, but I guess I just stink at it. You'd think
being able to work your way around straight pool racks would matter,
but it hasn't seemed to. Another game I rarely play now.

$Bill, Thank you for those nice comments!!! You too, in an earlier post, Satman!! Inspiration comes in many forms. I always pass the positve comments along to Landon and Connie. We all appreciate your support!..........Stan

And, Landon is scheduled to appear on Good Morning America on June 24th.
While I'm at it, Landon will do an exhibition at Papa Murphy's on June 19th at 7:00 est. (Athens, Georgia)

Stan,
Sounds like Landon has a pretty busy schedule. I framed his photo and letter from Connie and hung it on my "wall of fame". I've had several comments about Landon's photo and who he is. Thanks again to you, Connie and of course Landon! Did my package arrive yet?
Thanks Stan and tell Landon I said hello,
Zim

This is a little dangerous ...

Because this will give someone a good indication of your 'true' speed....

Oh well, 127 in 14.1, 11 racks of 9 ball (at $100 a rack), 7 racks of 8 ball, 8 balls in 1 pocket, 16 consecutive spot shots, 14 out of 15 rolling ball shots (can not shoot the ball in till it passes the spot) on bar box, 10 of 15 rolling on 9 footer.
16 consecutive side banks down the line from spot without moving cue ball by hand (have to draw cue ball back for following bank shot - have to start again when run out of balls because of closeness to end rail).

All of these are consecutive 'without missing' personal records.

9 Ball - most racks was 9, and I missed shape on a 7 ball by about 1/4 inch.. trying to run the set of 11 out. The match was to 11 and I ended up winning the set 11-10 even though I ran 9 from the toss.. My opponent ran a 6, then a 3, then we tussled a bit and got to the hill.. I couldnt believe you could almost lose a match after that.

8 ball - 10 racks on a 9 ft. @ $10 a rack... my opponent quit after this so I don't know if this was the end...?

Straight - 224.. but a long time ago.. since I moved to FL from NY, noone plays 14.1 so i don't keep in stroke in that game.. when you play a lot of straight pool, it gets easier to put together runs...

Snooker - on a 12 ft. in Toronto - 122... maybe 20-30 centuries after I switched to a 9mm snooker cue from my pool cue.. what a difference..

One pocket - ran 15 and out several times...

Texas Big Rack - 45 balls in a huge rack... my pool hall tried a "challenge" $5 to get in and high run wins the pot... I went after about 20 other people and ran the whole rack first attempt... try it sometimes.. a little tougher than I thought it was going to be, but manageable.

I have one for you.. not a high run necessarily, but sort of..

Playing Steve Cook, getting 9-8... after 9 1/2 hours.. I finished 55 games ahead.. :)

I ran five racks of 9-ball against Ronnie Wiseman going to 11 and lost. I ran five racks after being down 5-0 and won 7-5 another time. I have run five racks of eight ball and 78 points in straight pool and 98 in snooker on a 5x10' American snooker table.

Okay, how fast were you playing and how good to even PLAY 55 games (or more) of one-pocket in 9 1/2 hours?????

I am guessing you are referring to "the" Steve Cook and I have seen him play on video and I can't imagine ANYONE getting up 55 games of one hole on him with just a 9:8 spot and it is even harder to imagine it happening in nine hours.

Can anyone corraborate this or is there some part of the story missing like Steve had to play blindfolded and the stakes were a dollar a game???

All I can say is WOW

John,

I'm starting to wonder about quite a few posts here. I mean, we have a board full of World beaters! I've never ran anywhere near the amount of racks some people claim. I'm a not-too-bad player. The last time I played Tony Robles, I lost 9 to 5 in 9 ball. He played slightly off, I played my normal game. I think I'll need the Orange crush from everyone here...

Eric, as far as I'm concerned, that has to be a great first post. I was thinking the same thing. You worded it nicely. Not calling anyone a LIAR, lol yet looking at it logically it is getting a bit DEEP, lol.

Forgot to mention my greatest feat, IMHO. I ran 18 holes playing golf on the 5X10 snooker table with 4 other players in the game. This was playing off the 6 ball spot, NO, not off the 7 ball spot, which is a better way to play a golf ring game. Use to be my long suite. Still love the game but no one plays it any more.

Wow, this turned out to be an interesting thread I started. There are some incredible numbers put up here and I gotta say to all of you, "Please don't come to my town." I thought my 7 racks of 9-ball was quite a feat, but maybe because this happened at Hard Times in Bellflower, very tight pockets. Thanks to everyone for their personal bests, congrats to all.
