9-ball, 8-ball, straight pool, whatever it is, what's your high run? I've got a high run of 7 racks in 9-ball, not sure about 8-ball, and maybe 40 balls in straight pool.
On a 4 1/2 x 9' I have run 6 racks too many times to count (many on a table with 4" pockets), so 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's were abundant. On one occassion I ran 6 and out in two matches in a row. It was a McDermott Tournament at Mr. Billiards in Baldwin Park, CA. Louis Ulrich had me 8-3 and I ran 6 and out. In the next match, I was playing Jose Parica and it was 3-3, and I ran 6 and out! Case game, Every ball I got a little more out of line and by the time I got to the nine, I was rail to rail banking...and I drilled it!
On a bar box for $20- a game, I ran 9; 5 racks of of 8-ball, then the guy I was playing changed the game to 9-ball after I ran the 5 playing 8-ball, and then ran 4 racks of 9-ball. Boy did I burst his bubble. Never really played much straight pool, but have run in the 60's multiple times. Never could get out of the 5th rack.
But don't worry, once the cue repair took over my life, I dogged it and lost the cash on too many occassions! I sorta feel like I turned into sucker for a while...so much so, that I quit for a time to regroup...and then my journey to becoming a cuemaker began, then I got married, then, well, you know the rest of the story. I was always a highly emotional player, and I would go crazy at times! I really don't know what is going to happen now. I am a little older, wiser, calmer, been through a lot of stuff that makes me stronger. Hopefully, I will be able to play at that speed again, and also be a little smarter.
