Where Are They

I'm new to the board and there was something I was wondering about. I'm a huge fan of the WPBA and there have been some players who have been absent recently (or, in some cases, not so recently) and I was just wondering if anyone knew where these players are:

Kim White - She played the beginning of this year, had a great year last year, but recently disappeared.

Nikki Hollingsworth - Like Kim, she only played the beginning of this year. I know she returned to the game not too long ago and was wondering if she will continue to play WPBA events next year.

Kristi Carter - I saw her play on TV a few years ago, and she had a great match against Helena Thornfeldt, barely going down. I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, though.

Amy Paul - Her first few tournament back in 1997 were amazing, but then she just disappeared.

Joann Mason Parker - I read here on this site that she played an event a few weeks ago and was wondering if anyone knew if she would be playing more next year.

Thanks for any info on these players.

Sorry but I don't have much for you. Joanne Mason Parker, to my best recollection, gave up playng the WPBA tour full time in 1996 to raise a family. Kristi Carter also gave the WPBA tour up long ago, my guess is that her final year on tour was 1999, though she may have played one or two events in 2000. I caught up with Kristi at WPBA Peoria this June and she's not considering returning to the pro scene. If I remember correctly, she's living in Arizona. Wish I had more for you.

I actually heard from Kristi recently and she was talking about getting back into the game. Never heard from her again though.

While we are at it, does anyone know anything about Cheryl Harris? Last I saw of her was at Valley Forge in 2000 (where she had a q'er spot, I think).

kc in tucson

I was wondering what happened to amy paul myself.Havent seen her in a long time.Kristi is living here in tucson.that's all i got for you.

if joann mason played it's probably because she found some time to kibitz.

I asked Steve Tipton about Amy- He said "it just didnt work out for her financially" (playing in the WPBA).
She was right of course but Im surprised she didnt chase the dream for a little while anyway.

I agree

Diddo for me too.It is hard to make it on the pro tour when you are first starting out without a sponsor! I remember borrowing my entry fee from my dad for a few of the tournaments!!

Kim White has played in all of the tournaments this year so far. She took a break from some tournaments because her hand was injured. She has been playing well this year.

Nikki Hollingsworth had a baby back at the beginning of the year. I would imagine that is her main concern now.

Joann Mason-Parker played in a qualifier earlier this year but I don't know if she won or not.

I have no idea who Amy Paul is. She was before my time on tour and I have only heard stories.

If you are referring to Nikki Benish (Hollingsworth married name?) I saw her at the Smoky Mtn 9 Ball Shootout in April and she said she had not been playing a lot. She was there to watch her dad Ray play in the tournament. He played well I would like to add, real solid player.

Well, it was a long time ago, but the way I remember it, she married into the family that owns the prestigious Concord Hotel in the Catskills.

ok. thats what it was. i heard that they (the family) was trying to open a casino on the ABC islands. where ever they are. that is the other part i heard. every once in a while her and her father would drive up to albany looking for some action. her dad used to be a pretty decent player to. must run in the family...............................................mike

Don't know about the others, but I've run into Amy Paul twice since she left the tour. I walked into a pool room in Cotati, CA (northern CA) and she was the house person. Thatwas probably 1998 or 99. I then ran into her at the Cue Club in Vegas during the BCA Trade Show in 99 or 00 and we played a couple nights. She was helping Blud at that time, so maybe he knows her current whereabouts. I heard, and can't vouch for the veracity of this, that she is now a professional fly fisherman....errrrr, fisherperson. If that's true, how sad that you can make more money fly fishing than playing pool. No offense to the fisherpersons among us.

Adios,

Pizza Bob
