Where is Jay?

Time to eat some crow Jay, you been talkin smack about earl and betting against him these last couple weeks saying he will be lucky to win just one of these matches. Then he beats shane and you still dont give him credit, saying that he won just because he sharked shane ( making excuses for shane, which you say everyone does for earl). Now he beats Johhny in a long race. I think you need to eat the big black crow with some sauce.

When Tommy Kennedy (God bless him. He is my friend) knocked out Earl at last years US Open, I was happy for Tommy but since Earl is a close friend I had mixed emotions. After the match, I happened to see Jay and as he approached me he gave me a big grin and that well known, waving, pointed finger, thumbs-up gesture. He knows I am one of Earl's best friends and his former backer. I liked Jay before that move even though he had strongly cautioned me in a previous match not to talk to Earl while his opponent was at the table. He was right to do so and I apologized to him after the match. I was wrong. Jay is an important, positive supporter of our favorite sport. Truly one of the "great men of pool". Nonetheless, gloating is never in order. I know we all want to, but we are better finding a way to be gracious and in so doing, stem our baser instincts.

I think Jay Helfert likes to concentrate on the positives in pool, of which there truly are many. I don't know how he is able to step over the mud puddles on this forum and on site as eloquently as he does.

Even though I know Jay has been disappointed by pool people during his lifetime, he is truly a gentleman. He believes everybody should be treated equal and get paid, and he's not afraid to state the truth, even if it means he could be speaking out against so-called "friends." What's right is right, as far as Jay is concerned, and he's not afraid to express himself.

Jay is 'da man, and the more I get to know him on this forum, the better I like him. :)

No disrespect to Jay personally at all, just a fan who has a little bit of bragging rights because the player i wanted to win had won. I would root for Johnny in any other match besides Earl. Just some light hearted ribbing thats all.

If you met him person and spent any amount of time with him, you would like him even more. He is definately an asset to pool.

Maybe Jay is in Manila visiting his daughter and I believe he's ref or TD at the PI Open this weekend. Just a guess. Johnnyt
