Thanks for the information Cowboy, when you have a 100% you don't use the VA!!!!!![]()
But some 100% ers like the care they get at their local VA, like my neighbor who is thrilled with his person VA Doctors!

I've had one transaction with John. He made me a terrific case for a very reasonable, if not downright cheap, price. He was willing to bend over backwards to ensure that I was happy with the case. He's someone I really hope to meet in person someday. That's one John.
The other John, the online John, is someone that all too often makes you want to reach through the computer screen, grab him by the collar and shout "Calm down!" He knows he has a problem with losing control, and at least that's step one in solving it. I hope he is able to solve it because he has contributed a lot to the forum.

Manwon, this is off topic, but who do you use if you don't use the VA if you have a 100-percent service-connected disability?
Here in D.C. at the VA Medical Center, it seems like everybody wears numbers on their chests. The topic of conversation is always what your percentage is.
Vet 1: Hi, I'm 40 percent, and my name is John.
Vet 2: Hi, John. I'm 80 percent. My name is Mark.
Vet 3: I'm 100-percent, John and Mark.
Vet 4: I'm 30 percent now but working on getting 50.
JAM I believe "Retired Veterans" can got to any Military Base for Care, or use the Tri Care System, or use the VA System.
Your note about the Number on the Chest has to do with monthly Compensation & Co Pays to the VA.
As you Percentage of Disability Increases your Co Pays, and No Co Pay Service from the VA Increase.
Another Neighbor just turned 65, and now was told he can not longer be seen at our AF Base down the Road his care is through Tri Care only & Medicare.
P.S. 100% get PX & Commissary Privileges like Retired Military, Family Member get CHAMPS-VA Health Care, and if they are Travel in a RV, can Camp Free in many bases that have RV Parks.
Hope this help a little.
I am curious about it. My one brother is 100-percent service connected due to some injuries he incurred in Vietnam.
When he visits me, he goes to the VA Medical Center in D.C. for medical care, but he can go to any VA Medical Center. He's living in California now, but he likes to visit the VA Medical Center in D.C. for some medical problems because he is comfortable with his primary care doctor there.
With MyHealtheVet, the electronic medical recordkeeping system, it keeps him apprised of his medical condition. Today, he's a stone-cold vegetarian, doens't eat anything out of a can or box, and makes all his own soap and chocolate. He is doing everything he can to stay healthy, after going through chemo. He's one of the lucky ones, I guess.![]()

As for your questions about Vet 1,2,3,4 I don't have an answer, when I retired my medical records were reviewed by the VA as part of the retirement process and I was awarded 100%, I never submitted any paper work other than my medical records.
Based upon a persons disability rating by the medical treatment my only limited to only the VA, and depending upon their rating they may have a co-pay or a longer wait to receive treatment. But, the higher a persons disability rating the more benifits they recieve and it will effect how fast they recive them. I don't know where the cut off is disability rating, I am one of the lucky few who never had to fight the system.
Hope this helps answer your question
That is how the new system works, that is just great, but sadly many from Viet Nam Era have had VA Appeals going on for decades. I know of one personally that have been in the latest appeal for almost 9 years, and is at the BVA now for a final decision.
Yes you are lucky, and the cut off at you say is 100%, and the only good thing is it is TAX FREE.
[/B]
Sorry, Cowboy but that is not how it works, since I retired I get my retirement pay from Department of the Army, and a separate check from the VA for my disability, that adds up to a lot lot more than tax free or just my retirement pay, and since I have a 100% it is all Tax free.
There are two types of disability today Combat related and Non-Combat related, things have changed Cowboy, things have changed!!![]()
All I can say is wow. Everyone here is saying what a great guy he is, and how wonderful he is, and you are all entitled to your opinions. However, John insulted me, my Marine Corps, and my country, and therefore he is an enemy of mine. You can love him all you want, but there is no forgiveness for how he sees the United States of America. You can bash me all you want, but I'm patriotic as hell, and he is anti-American, and because of that, I don't care if he lives or dies. Semper Fidelis.
Joe
So if I understand it? both your Retirement Pay for 20 + Years in the US Army, and your VA Check Disability each month are TAX FREE. So I learn something today.
Yes things have change for the BETTER at the VA from those getting out of the Military NOW!
But, only if you get 100% Disability, and you serve for 20 plus year's active duty, if you are a Reserve Soldier the retirement doesn't kick in until your 60 I think but I am not sure.
By the way, I retired in 2003 and there have been many changes since then, like the Combat and Non-combat related disability ratings.

Well I hope you have many years of TAX FREE INCOME, as you paid your dues for it JMHO.
Thanks Cowboy, but I still pay taxes 30% of my profit margin from my Pool Room go's to taxes, and then there are City Taxes, and State taxes.
So trust me Cowboy, I pay taxes in fact I am waiting for my accountants report as we speak to see what it is going to cost me this year!!![]()
You are paying tax because you are making money, your silent partners want their cut. Sadly the "silent partners" did not help you with capitol to start business. State of Washington, City of _____, and Uncle Sam want their cut it is call a TAX.
Plus I am sure you understand the pride associated with ownership, you personally get paid last, and fixed expenses like below come first:
Rent/Lease/Mortgage
Insurance
Advertising Costs
Phone/Fax/Internet
Business licenses.
Employee Salary, Workers Workers Comp Ins. Premium ,8% Social Security Tax you pay for employees.
CPA/Accountent/Tax Guy
Utilities like Electric/Water/Gas/Trash Pick Up
Supplies like Cleaning Supplies, TP, Soap etc.
Cost of Soft Drink/Beer etc. you sell.
did I forget anything, I say I did I am sure.:sorry:
All this gets paid for first Mr. Business Owner.
If you have anything left you call it profit, and maybe take a small salary, or put it away for a BAD MONTH TO KEEP THE BUSINESS IN BUSINESS. How many hours you work a week 60 +++. I am sure it has been a few years since you went on a Two Week Vacation to some exotic place like Vail, or Maui.
Being Self Employed is so much fun.Did I get it right??
