Where to store your cues

I currently have a wall cue rack to store my cues but the rack I have has clips instead of holes and those clips have actually made dents in the shafts of cues I keep on it. Needless to say I don't keep any of my really nice cues on that rack. My nice cues stay in cue cases and I keep my cheaper and the ones with dents already on the wall rack.

So I was wondering, where do you all store your cues when you are not playing?
 
I keep my good cues stored in their cases vertically, straight up and down, not leaning against the wall. For storage the shafts are tip down and the butts stored rubber down.

Same here.
My cases are also stored in a closet, away from the sun...
 
I think most people will say the same thing. Store it in your case, in a cool area (not hard in Wisconsin...). Some will say to store it vertically, others say horizontally. I personally store them vertically. If you don't have a case, I would say to store them, taken apart, horizontally. Those wall racks are evil when they have clips on them. You could make a new top with a block of wood and a rotary tool for less than $2. Then you wouldn't have those clips to deal with.

I wish I could modify my current wall rack but can't. Probably will pick up a new rack and keep my cheap cues on the old one and the nicer cues on the new one.
The cues I play with I keep in a case laying on the floor.
 
I use a wall rack - one of those two piece jobs that cost under $10. The clips are some kind of bendable plastic and I bent them so that they don't pinch the cue much going in. Never had a problem in 30 years. You should mount the two pieces carefully so that the cues stand straight and keep it out of the sun and away from a heating/cooling register on an inside wall. Can't beat it for convenience.

For cues you never use, you might want to follow what others say - in a case standing vertically.
 
I picked up a couple display cases for my basement pool room. My cues lay flat and the humidity isn't much of a concern up here in Montana. And I like to look at em'.

I must say...a display case in the home pool room is genius!! For those of us that don't have that kind of cash, we keep them in cases in our closets standing upright or laying flat on the floor. I prefer standing the cases.

You may try lining the inside of the plastic cue holders with pieces from your old felt. Or buy some new felt and cut the pieces to fit the inside of the plastic holders. I don't know it's just an idea, I'm not even sure if it would help, but it couldn't hurt.

I keep my nicer cues if a Porper 12 x 24 case in my gun safe. The rest are on my all glass wall rack or leaning aginast the wall !!

the wall racks are fine if the cue is kept straight. just dont pull the cue out from the clips. spread them with your fingers going in and out so the cue doesnt rub.
