Which butt cap do you prefer? This is BEM w/ a marblewood handle.

My opinion

Either one works for me so long as you match the joint cap(ring) with the butt cap.

I typically like my cues very symetrical in design and colors.

Looks like it will be very nice either way you go.

Absolutely brown. Imo the black looks completely out of place with those woods.

Rat...didn't even bother to look at the black, because in my mind's eye, the brown was almost a no-brainer....absolutely perfect match for the marblewood handle, and lends itself to a nicer overall 'flow' in the cue's design. I have always felt that the brown looks better with BEM, as it tends to pick-up everso subtly the darker coloring of the BE's, making them stand out just that much more.

BTW....I think that cue is gonna look really really nice!! Well done!

Black to match ring work. But if you are the maker you need to go with your gut feeling for the overall look.

The brown appears to stay with symmetry of the wood used in the cue. I think I would definitely used the brown. In fact I also have some of that phenolic tubing both for the joint and the butt and I really like the way it takes finishes.

hey ryan

big chad here, try the same color you put on my cue! that would be a great compliment to the ring work! realy subtle also not over bearing! just my 2 cents!

I will have a 5/16-14 piloted joint and the joint collars will match the butt cap.

Everyone is house chose black because they think the brown matches "too well." I am in process of designing 5 new playing cues for the next Mueller catalog. The next cue in line has similar colors but the butt cap is up against curly maple. I like that contrast as opposed to the brown/marblewood combo. Any opinions?
