Which game requires most skill

I'd say snooker

a 147 complete table run is an accomplishment in snooker..to be remembered and celebrated. even by the best of the best

daily table runs in any other pocket discipline is pretty much required to call yourself a good player.

There has been a LOT more 147 runs at snooker than 400 runs at 14.1.
Earl's million '11 pack' was more amazing.
A kid from Taiwan ran 14 racks and out (can't remember his name)
My personal favorite....28 and out at 3-cushion years ago in Japan

This is the kind of question that should be asked. Whats the hardest game to run out. Then whats the hardest game to string racks.

IMO every cue sport game is difficult. That's why they're such great games.

What % of players have scored a 147 in snooker, run 3 racks of 1P, 10 racks of 9 ball, 5 racks of rotation, 250 balls in straight pool........ and I can't help myself have.. an Average of 2.0 in 3C.

3 Cushion billiards by far is the most difficult game, when the top players in the world play correctly they can control ALL 3 balls, no pool game has that commom denominator!

probably Russian Pyramid. Has anyone EVER run out a rack of Pyramid?

We talked about Russian pyramid in another thread and the game is not that hard. Only making the ball is difficult other than that is an easy game. Depen on the game... anyway a lot of players did a runout

Instead of asking which game requires the most skill, I'd ask which game requires the most SKILLS. I've played most of the games mentioned and I'd have to say One-Pocket. It combines cue ball control, accurate position play, safeties, banking and whole lot of ceativitiy. Played at the highest levels, I've seen some players choreogragh the movement of several balls in one shot. You can play the game for fifty years and still learn new moves.

in fairness, how many people on this planet are truly qualified to answer this as far as their knowledge of pool/carom/snooker/pyramids?

there seems to be a very small group of Americans here with great knowledge and experience with both pool and carom, virtually none when it comes to snooker, and Pyramids, well pretty much nobody

having grown up in a snooker hotbed (now dead btw) and the only place on earth this side of the pond to produce a world champion I cringe at the snooker discussions here at times

who knows, maybe Carom players laugh at us, and Pyramids at Carom, etc......

there is also the English Billiards scene and English 8 ball pool

In my mind, I believe an all round cue sports tourney repeated on a few occasions would answer all of this

Quinten hann won such a tournament (pool, snooker, billiards) , damn he was talented

I'm starting to transition from playing 9-ball most of the time to playing 14.1 frequently and I've gotta say. I think it's pretty difficult as someone who's new to it. It's really fun, but it's a whole different way of perceiving the table.

Just for fun, change the wording of the question slightly and ask ...

Which of the games is least likely that you would win 2 or more of in a session of 10 games.

In that case I'll say the order would be 1.Straight pool, 2 One Pocket, 3 The rest of em ... :)

Go win a game of straight pool against the likes of an Efren or Thorsten. Better chance of getting struck by lightening twice in the same night.
Good point
