Fun Game......

Interesting....elaborate?? Honolulu pretty much covers all aspects as well since you aren't allowed to do any cut shots and are only allowed to kick, carom, bank, combo, masse, jump to make your shots including the 8. I would like to see 2 pros play this for a set to watch the defense aspect that probably would be required as running a full rack this way is pretty fricken tough.

Break the full rack. If you make a ball it spots and you continue shooting.

You have to make 2 balls that add up to 15. Like if you pocket the 10 your next ball is the 5. If you scratch one of your sets(2 balls that add up to 15) get spotted back up.

The 15 ball can be banked at anytime and counts as a set.

First player to 5 sets wins.

On a scratch you shoot from the kitchen.

There can be allot of strategy in this game. And it's real easy to learn and even easier to follow.

I really enjoyed it.

Thank you, I have played a lot of cribbage (card wise), so I was curious on how it translated to the pool table. I am having some buddies over in about a week so after we are done playing cards we may have to try this!

I picked bankpool:thumbup: John B.

Go figure! :D

I'd like to pick Kulay (see my sig line below). It's a tough game to run a rack. Has offense and defense. Needs creativity. Think of Rotation, but a bit easier. I'm fairly confident that it would take a pro level player or short stop to beat the "Kulay ghost" to say 9 (could be wrong though).

BTW, in another thread, someone said Ronnie Alcano beat the Rotation ghost. And it was said that no one ever heard of anyone beating the Rotation ghost. Is there any confirmation of this? Is it on video?

thanks
Fatz

9 Ball for sure. 14.1 is great for exhibitions (like the olden days). I feel 10 ball gets a bit to long for an average viewer to ever make it on tv.

a lot of players have beat the rotation ghost. ronnie mentions it in the tar podcast with jayson shaw that he used to beat the rotation ghost going to 15. efren and busty have beat it for sure, and probably a lot of other pinoys because they play rotation a lot more there. i know rodney morris has beat it, and likely a handful of other top american pros have beat it at one time or another

I voted 8, 9, 10 and Speed Pool because they're fun to watch and show off cue ball movement...I'd really like to see a ring game of heavy hitters play 3 ball just once...the carom attempts would be sick!

There's one option that won't get a lot of love,
but people probably would enjoy it more than they think -
Speed pool.

It's hard to get bored when each round is so frenetic and the total match is over in a few minutes.
I never turned off a speed pool match halfway through. Can't say that about any of the others I voted for.

CreeDo, man, stop it! Quit impressing me like that! If you keep doing that, I'll develop a man-crush, and neither of us want that, now, do we?

I watched the entire match, including part II. What a rush! I was surprised to see so many top-flight pros that lost or struggled with this format. SVB and Orcullo didn't even make it to the semi-finals!

EDIT: Here's what Appleton thinks about this game:

I know right? I saw shane play well in one of the links posted a while ago, vs. jeff de luna, lots of racks near 45 seconds. I thought that was top flight speed pool.l But Karl Boyes seems to have this game all figured out and gets closer to 40. And probably some other specialists cut it down further. What struck me is the competitors seemed to be having actual fun.

Bonus ball on tv with big sponsor live pool only no recorded replays. Perhaps with a slightly faster clock Slow play pool is not so viewable for public consumption. Myself I like the normal games very much 8 9 10 1p. But faster play and the team thing would be more interesting for mainstream viewing
