Which One's Welcome You?

We've all heard on AZ about the few players on the WPBA that give the new girls coming off the regional qualifiers a hard time. Can some of the regional players that have played on the WPBA Tour tell us some of the veteran players that go out of their way to be nice, helpful, and make you feel like you belong? Johnnyt

Well, I haven't ever been good enough to come near the WPBA off a regional qualifier... but I did meet Debbie Schjodt at my first Ladies Spirit Tour event and she was awesome. We had good conversation and she welcomed me into that tour with open arms, introducing me to all the other girls and the pros that were there. We hung out another time after that and I met more pros (Vivian Villareal was great especially) and everyone was really nice. It seems like you think the girls are caddy and mean to each other?

Not at all. I'm sure just a small % of them are caddy to the new ones. What I wanted to know was which ones went out of their way to welcome and make the the new ones feel welcome like Debbie did to you. I think that's great.

It happens in nursing also. A new nurse gets her first job and the oldtimers cut her or him down for not knowing this or that. I use to yell at the old ones, "what did you pop out as an RN?". Johnnyt

Well from my experience, they were all pretty great... not that I am ANY kind of competition so no worries there:D :D

I hear Sarah Ellerby goes out of her way to "lend a hand" to WPBA Players...both veteran and rookies :D :D

Southpaw

I believe you meant...lends an elbow. Johnnyt

In my experience, the ones who welcomed me warmly were Ewa, Belinda, and Jeanette. Allison and Gerda have always been friendly too. All class acts. :)

Thank you Linda...that's what I was looking for. Johnnyt

Monica Webb, Helena Thornfeldt, Melissa Herndon and Alice Rim were definitely very nice and the only ones to talk to me at my first event. Over all though, everyone is pretty friendly. It really just depends when you catch them.

When I first met Keith, he ended up staying in Baltimore after a big tournament for a spell, and all the roadsters and local champions came to Hot Shots pool room on Pulaski Highway to try to get them a piece of action.

I had been out of the pool circuit for a long time, and I did not know everybody in the pool room, like I used to. I was sitting in a booth by myself, while Keith was in action, and much to my surprise, these two lady pros came over to my table and sat with me. They each put their hands out and introduced themselves. It was Helena Thornfeldt and Monica Webb. For about an hour or two thereafter, we sat there and laughed the night away. They were so friendly. I actually enjoyed their company and didn't want to leave when Keith's action ceased because I was having so much fun. :p

In Orlando, Allison Fisher was Miss Personality with me. She was so personable and charismatic. When I was snapping pictures, she looked at her friends who were sitting next to her and said, "Hey, let's give her a really good picture."

They all posed for me, and this is that picture below. Thereafter, Allison Fisher has always been one of my favorite lady players. Well, I like Ewa too. And then there's Kelly Fisher who I admire. I can't leave out Helena and Monica. Heck, there's too many to name! They have all been nice to me as a pool fan! :D
