I am gonna get a table for the house. Which is the best all around? Got it narrowed down 3. Just having a hard time choosing. Gonna be a 9' table.

I like Kim Steele tables, but the ones I played with didn't hold up over time. The pockets were coming loose and the tables just really looked beat up.

I also like a good Gold Crown. The only issue I have is the pockets being raised (which realistically only affects like 2% of your shots), and for a home table the ball return is quite loud.

I love (and have owned) a Diamond. I never had a single complaint about it.

I'm sure that whichever you choose you will be satisfied. The amount of wear that your table experiences will probably be very small since you are the only one using it.

I just sold my Gold Crown in preparation for a cross country move. The new home will have a turn of the century Brunswick along the lines of a Regina...Warwick....Saratoga...etc. I just like the feel of old wood and slate at this point in life.

Get the one that you play on the most of course.

Unless, that is, unless you are only playing at home. Then there is the "are you trying/looking to impress people when they come to your house factor"

Buy what you really like. I'm a GC fan.
The Brunswick life time warranty is a joke....but I don't let that stuff stop me.

Are you looking for a new or used table? For new (or tournament used), I really like Diamond ProAms. But I have played on some older Diamond Professional tables that I am more lukewarm about wanting. For a more substantially used table, I would want to know more about the condition of the table, slate, pocket widths, rail beds, etc. Definitely get a 9' if you have room.

I have had 2 tables in my homes. I stayed home and watched both installations. It's a really a good reason for taking a day off work.

Would be tough for me to choose between gold crown and diamond as I love both of them. Seeing how I grew up playing on gold crowns I would probably have to go gold crown.

Now if I can have ANY table I want it's gonna be a 10 ft diamond with 4.25in pockets, or the 10ft gold crown from tar20 after the slate is ground flat. Yes I love tight pocket tables as most 9 footers play way too sloppy.

You should already know what the forum hivemind is gonna say "Diamond". But id go with whatever your local poolhalls have since youll be playing most league & money matches on those, and switching back and forth is not an easy thing to do. The rails on the diamonds play totally different from everything else out there. Cant go wrong with either a brunswick or a diamond though

Beware of the short slate shelf. If you're used to playing on more modern tables this forgiveness of the pockets no matter how "tight" you shim them will get old fast.

My thoughts exactly. Having equipment similar to the local pool hall would definitely help my play. I don't go often, but when I do, I play position for shit. Their cloth is much faster than mine.
