Who are the top five players in your state?

Indiana has a lot of good shortstops that no one has heard of. Steve Oaks is pretty well known along wth Peru Paul.
Dan {waldo} walton
Mike Ray {bar table 8-ball} 2nd person to score a 50 zip in last 24 years
Brian Gregg
Tony listed the most dangerous ones with the exception of Mark Jarvis. Last I heard he was in northern In.

George Breedlove
Brian Groce
Denver Barger
Jeanette Lee
Jeff Beckley
Im sure there are more.

I have heard a lot of stories about denver. Some other players around indy you hear a lot about are waldo, steve oaks, and strong arm john. Tony coleman from northern indiana, rumored to be a multi millionaire that will play for anything, there was a really strong player on his pool league team, can't remember his name. From evansville gary gentry is a strong player, i know jeremy brown, and he is really impressive, both of them are solid in banks/1 pocket. Supposedly there was a road player living in evansville a lil while back, not sure if it was true, he had beaten everyone in owesnboro, evansville, and metropolis, il.
I dunno enough about the indy players to rank anybody, from what i have heard denver would be the best, i'm sure theres other players in south bend and fort wayne, muncie, and others up near chicago.

El'nino, I'm from Eastern PA, in fact we probably know each other ... I've seen McNally play many, many times -- for the cash and in tournaments.

Rempe is a hall of famer, and has won national-class tournaments in 9-ball, straight pool, and one pocket. Even as late as last year he was 2nd in the 10-ball tournament in Atlantic City (where McNally placed 9th-12th).

3 points:
1) You can argue that McNally gambles better than Rempe, but Rempe doesn't gamble anymore so that's a moot point.

2) You absolutely can't argue that McNally is a better tournament player

3) Rempe is like 54 years old -- old enough to be McNally's father. The McNally of today could not beat Rempe (or Hopkins) at even anything in his prime.

All of this said, I still think McNally is one of the top 5 players in all of the Northeast.
Hey Backpocket, I agree with you completley...I was just talking about right now. If Mcnally were to play either Rempe or Hopkins I'll take Mcnally and more times than not I'm gettin the cash. I play outta Maidhoff's room, ever been there

Hey El'nino,
I've been there...nice room. Have you seen Billy K. or Eddie Abraham play? How would you think they match up with McNally? I play out of Joe W's room in S.Jersey (The Green Room).

I am from Iowa, and although it is not a strong state for pool we still have a few decent players:

Don McCaughey (just took fourth in the DCC one pocket)
Scott Frost (now lives in Arizona)
Whitey Walker (Two-time BCA Masters State Champion)
Scott Kitto (not sure if he plays anymore)
Chad Vilmont

And from the Quad Cities, although technically from Illinois:

Jesse Bowman
James Baraks (Wilson)

I am surprised that these last two didn't make any of the Illinois lists...

Mike B.

I have. I've played Phil Sherman, Tim Murray, Mike Sutterby, Burt (rich guy), and Rafael Saldana. I'm from Allentown.

I think that Joe W's room is just as nice as Drexeline. I like playing there a lot. Ask Jade Domkoski, Dan Chapman, or Mike Harris about me -- they'd know who I am just by telling them my screen name and that I live in New York.

Billy K. has matched up with McNally before. I only know of one session, but there have probably been more. McNally beat Billy K. in a 6-ahead set for $1500 at back pocket 9-ball. Both Eddie A. and Billy K. need a couple balls from McNally in one pocket and the 7-ball in 9-ball -- just my opinion.

Thoughts on Michigan?

Perk,

A young feller I think we talked about before, Adam Smith, will soon be a force to be dealt with, if he isn't already. I watched him slay Putnam at a Viking stop here in Cincy.

So who is the kid?

It would seem that John Drew belongs on a top 5 list.

I know that Cliff is originally from NC, but in the past two years I've been to Houston four times, and I've seen Cliff there each time -- at Bogies, at Legends, and at the Fast Eddie's right off the Gulf Freeway (a tournament).

I think that Denis is a very good gambler, but I don't think that you can call him one of the top 5 players in all of Texas. I saw him lose a bunch of money a year ago to Ronnie Allen giving Ronnie 9-8, and Ronnie is well over the hill.

Who is the Houston kid?

I don't know who Billy K is but Eddie A. is a fine player 1 pkt. & 9 ball. If Pat gave Eddie the 7 I'll take Pat all day though, Pat can REALLY hit'em

If you were at your home room when the Northeast Players Tour came through last year, Billy K. (Petey's protege) is the kid who played Maidhoff in the finals.

Texas is full of good players. I dont think Dennis is top ten.
Does the car salesman in Beaumont still play? I watched him
play years back and he played great.
Scotty Townsend got beat by a few people all in one bar in Houston once.

The rich guy is Bob Burt, he plays ok Sutterby plays a little better...Phils playing real good ( I think he has beat Mcnally the last 3 times he played him) Tim Murray has disapeared off the planet (AGAIN) and Raph plays real good too (killer stroke) he can really muscle the cue up pretty good. He made a shot on me last night that brought tears to my eyes but I still won, I whooped his but ( all he had to give me was the 5 7 breaks an 2 on the wire in a race to 5...that's all

Whaz up SB? You might be right but one of the guys here gave Jimmy Wetch the 6 ball and beat him out of $3,000. And, it wasn't the guy who won the U.S. Open, LOL.

Not sure who did that but they can win more than 3000 if they want to try it again.
Other than Buster or Scotty I cant think of anyone near Wetch's speed that
lives in MS.

Scotty does get crazy and out run the nuts at times.

Who do you have in your MS top list
I know I will be missing someone but
Reid Pierce
Buster M
Lil Jon
Elby T
Tom G
Ricky S
Luc
Jaybird--not sure where he lives

I am sure theres more good players than those

CJ Wiley probably the best play in Texas and his not in ur list. ?????
