Also from Iowa is Jon Kuchero

Anyone who wants to go to St Ignatius, Montana and play "John "Get Back Jack" Madden any game that you can name for any amount that you can count, I'll be there to stake Madden. That would include Scott Frost!

I love Jack, but unless he's been on steroids I'll take that bet.

Geese (Michael Gerace) will always be in my heart. I have known him since I was a teenager, and it was Geese who introduced me to the pool room culture. I had always been a bar-box shooter before I met him. He is, without a doubt, the BEST one-handed player I have ever seen in my lifetime. With his cue stick jacked up, never touching a rail, he could draw his rock the length of the table and more.

Some other Maryland players to add to the list, though some may have been native Washingtonians originally, would be: Strawberry, Bus Driver Ronnie, Bobby Hawk, Korean Lee, Jackie Robinson, and Left-Handed Kevin.

Baltimore used to be the hub for pool action when Jack and Jill's in Glen Burnie used to be the old "Bill and Billie's." Gotta throw Cigar Tom Vanover from Dundalk in the mix, and then there's White Max, Greenie, Teddy Williams, Tom-Tom Wirth, and Fat Mike, just to name a few! :p

JAM

Jam,
Whatever happened to Ronnie Sypher, a very good player from years gone by?

Top five now living in California

My current list would have to include:

1. Jose Parica
2. Tony Chohan
3. Billy Palmer
4. Amar Kang
5. Ernesto Dominguez

6. Max Eberle (hard to keep him out of the top five)
7. Morro Paez
8. Tang Hoa (can still play)
9. Dave Hemmah
10. George Michaels

*11. Kim Davenport (If he comes back he could be #1 or #2)

If I forgot anyone, just shoot me.

The way Charlie Bryant and Little Al have been winning just about everything around here, those 2 are 4 sure stroking the ball.
Back pocket, ur list is rite on, I would proably leave David and Gilbert out and leave the rest.

Which David are u talking about? if you are talking about david guiterrez you have to be nuts to take him off the list. David could have been a world beater and is still a very strong short stop. I'll stake david agaist damn near anyone intexas. DAMN NEAR. not everyone.

i saw gilbert play for $50 a game about a week ago, walked out with over 2'gs...

The first two are a given, but beyond that, I'm not really sure how to rank them, here are some ideas:

1) Jeremy Jones
2) Cliff Joyner

Dave Guiterrez
Dave Henson
Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant
Al Mason
Javier Franco
Gilbert Martinez
John Drew Hager (fairly sure he lives in TX)

I also believe that even though he isn't playing anymore, if CJ Wiley started up again, he would give Jeremy Jones a serious run for the top spot. Also, Bob Vanover (although I don't think he plays anymore, either)

Anyone heard of Tex from Carbondale

I don't know how Dennis spelled his last name something like Geshke or
Geashke. Nicknamed TEX. Played Johnson City and hung out at Stardust and Gatsby's in the mid 70's and 80's in Carbondale IL. He should be on any state list if still around and playing. Was buddies with Bill Mechum now in CO Springs who should be on the CO list. They'd go head to head I think Tex got the better of it in the end. Sure would like to know where Tex lives these days.

I think it's funny how completely OUT OF F'N touch some people are with reality. I can't begin to count all of the threads on this forum that have the topic of making pool a better known, better paid, & more attractive sport than it currently is today. Part of the reason pool is in the gutter is because Joe Q Public has this image of pool being nothing but seedy low life gamblers in pool halls hustling people. The fact that Shawn Putnam ISN'T that is what MAKES HIM A "WORLD CLASS PLAYER". How F'n stupid can you be sometimes not to see this?!?!?!? The majority of the guys on the pro tour (not just Shawn) have done what they can to distance themselves from the seedy, low life, thieving sob's of yesteryear that helped put pool where it is today(great place huh? ). "Shawn considers himself good". LOL, YO MCFLY YOU IN THERE?!?!?!?!?!? What part of winning two UPA tourney's back to back do you find "not good"? How about getting invited to the WPC, the Patriot Cup, sudden death 7 ball on ESPN, THE MOSCONI CUP.... Let me guess.... He was invited to these events because "he CONSIDERS HIMSELF good."   Are you kidding me!?!?!?

People should be happy to see the guys on the pro tour dressing nicely, leaving the venue after tournament play & not sticking around to gamble all night. Believe me, I love to watch action games as much as the next fan of pool but leave that to the people that WANT to do that & don't call out those that don't. Shawn Putnam, and a whole slew of other guys on the tour are doing their best to be professionals and get sponsorship and make the world think better of this sport in general....why is that a bad thing? I don't get it. For every pro that's trying to distance himself from the dark side & clean up the image of the sport, there's got to be a 100 guys out there that don't give two sh!ts about the image or sponsorship or anything else for that matter. Go gamble or try to gamble with them.... there's a plethora of them out there. I don't understand why people are calling these VERY FEW guys out for not gambling or in some cases resulting to shark tactics to win or whatever else it is that some of you insist on claiming about people that you really don't know. Here's a little didya know... I was witness to a conversation this weekend between Shawn & Dave Hemmah. It seems Dave (another heckuva nice guy on the tour) is working on getting a project going in his area where pool will actually be a subject taught in the schools. I heard Shawn tell Dave that he would love to come out there & teach. Who do you think soccer mom is going to want teaching her kids about pool? Guys like Shawn & Dave who dress nice, play the tournament, & then head to the hotel to get some rest after the tourney, or the guy that just spent all night in the pool room gambling with no ambition to do anymore than just that when it comes to pool? hmmmm, bet I can make a pretty good guess at who she's going to want teaching her kid....

I could go on but no one will read it and/or give a sh!t so I'll finish by saying this. A) try having a little respect for the few good guys out there trying to do something right. B) If you or ANYONE else on this board wants to sit in judgement of the pro's or anyone else for that matter, HAVE THE F'n BALLS to sign your REAL NAME to the nonsense that you insist on posting. I notice you had no trouble puting Shawn's name in print... I also noticed that yours was missing. Talk about people with no heart & no gamble.....

Timberly <---- my real name, and more than happy to stand behind anything I say to or about someone here or anywhere else for that matter.
This was a major factor that drove me to play the game I play. I've never had anybody attempt to rob me playing
3 Cushion in the last 30 years. I certainly had a few opportunities to gamble but the game has always been more important than the money with 3C players. There's lots of reasons for this but for the most part 3C players aren't gamblers with this game.

It wasn't a week after I first picked up a cue in a pool hall that someone attempted to fleece my pockets. I hadn't even figured out which end of the cue to hit the ball with yet. I almost quit when I found a pocketless table and soon noticed nobody wanted to gamble. Why? It wasn't because I knew what I was doing. It was nobody else knew, what I was trying to do, and they were simply gutless robbers not gamblers.

Tom

....Joe T could probably fill in more names
