Election season in America is starting up. Let's consider different nominees.

Who would you nominate to run a professional pool league (think IPT but legit) based on league operators, league system presidents, room owners, tournament organizer and pro pool players?

The players names stand out the most because of recognition. But aside from that who are your picks?

Assume that the money and support and everything else is in place.

All that has to be done is select a person. The ideal person would have name an unquestionable reputation and support from players, fans and sponsors.
 
same guy should run pro tournaments
or we might have to settle for the mess we have forever

if mark combined both they would feed off ,benefit from, and promote each other

Why won't he do it?
 
There is always talk about some Asian player, he wears glasses, who also promotes.

If some pool pro can run several events in a year fielded by highly rated international men and women players, why not Mark Griffin.

I haven't read any post in which somebody has suggested this. What we're saying is that if a pro tour existed, we'd all feel good if Mark were the one running it.

Mark is the best visionary in American pool today, and he has regularly added new events and opportunities for pro players.

This year is no different, as Mark has recently announced the inception of the US Open 8-ball at the next BCAPL championships.

Incidentally, given the way many of the pros have behaved in their creation and administration of the ABP, one would be inclined to conclude that it is their intent to alienate Mark and to obstruct his leadership of the American pro scene.

Mark is American pool's greatest treasure, and is the man most capable of running a successful tour. That doesn't mean he should or that he has any obligaiton to do so.

No one is obligated to do anything. It is just another opportunity for money to be made.

This thread is just supporting someone that is capable and might want to consider taking bigger risks. Openly supporting individuals/businesses on this forum has resulted in some great memories.

Mark has done a fine job without sinking the BCAPL boat, his boat. To be sustainable, a pro-tour must be profitable.

The housing market crashed because of greedy bankers and politicians giving out loans to people who couldn't afford them. Some tournament directors have also over extended and miscalculated the costs and profits from running professional pool, including Kevin Tredeu who has deep pockets. Mark has done what he can and stayed within his means. Pro-pool has yet to be profitable on its own, and therefore non-existant. I don't think anyone rational person can honestly doubt Marks commitment in anyway to the promotion of pool.

Absolutely not......

Tell you what I nominate you....

That way you can get off the forums and out into the real world and actually learn about these things you only make guesses at....

You can actually DO something for a change.....

Mark Griffin has worked tirelessly trying to make professional pool viable but it cannot be done on air barrels....

To suggest that he is not stepping up is about the stupidest thing I have read around here and brother that is saying something.......

Not sure what I am supposed to do with that!

I have NOT said I would (or would not) do it.
The time is not right - and may not be for some time.

I really think something needs to be done to goet pool going - but it is not with the ABP.

Time will tell - but if I win a lottery, you can bet theri will be a well run pro tour!

You could always piece together a handful of your best amateurs and create a semi-pro league.

Like how baseball has the minors, football (soccer) has club teams and ....
 
justnum...Like others have said, you have ZERO clue as to how things work...on or off of a pool table. We don't now, and there never has been "pool teams", let alone "farm clubs" or "minors". Tell you what, you come up $10,000,000 and Mark might just do that.
