First, thanks to BigTruck. This was an awesome stream.

Second, I'll partially agree with cuetechasaurus in that Jesse did miss a few shots he probably should have made. Since they didn't really come back to bite him too hard, and he was basically in the driver's seat the entire match, I chalked it up to him playing just a little too fast at times.

He really is an excellent player, and this stream showcased a lot of what he is capable of.

There's no doubt that Jesse is a top three barbox player, and super nice guy, but if he ever plays Shane a long race, I'll bet a dime on Shane!

Thanks for the stream Bigtruck! This is the first time I've ever seen Jesse play and he is a monster. I couldn't believe the speed at which he plays, particularly those bank and kick shots. I think his speed may have done him some harm a few times but overall I was blown away.

I started a thread on Jesse Bowman's barbox abilities just last week and got accused  of having a "man crush" on him. Why does the OP here get off so easy ???

Jesse's barbox 8-ball game is what really impresses me. I'd have a hard time bettin' against him, SVB or whoever else he was playin'.

I also think Scott Frost would be a slight favorite against Jesse playing bar table 9-ball, but it's close.

Not trying to argue with you here and I agree it would be a hello fo a match, but bar table 9 ball is a peculiar game. I have seen more than a few who looked like th best in the world at 9 pm and by 3AM were flat busted.
Jesse plays great and I like the Guy . He seems a cool customer to me, but it ain't like Gabe can't play on a bar table either, in fact he plays pretty darn good on the bar box, but everything that could go wrong here for him did. Errant combinations and kicks can make a player look like fool sometimes. In the beginning it was about all he had. The he got the chance and got a funny jacked up shot that he deared the scratch on and missed it too.
I though see Jesse playing Shane or Scott on the bar table as 6-5 pickem.
JMO!

I didn't mean to put down Jesse's game in any way, I think he is in the top five in the country playing on the bar box. I just think Scott is slightly better. Scott is the best one pocket player in the USA IMO, and Scott's best game is bar table 9-ball according to him.

The match could go either way, depending on who is breaking better, but I still think Scott would be a very slight favorite playing Jesse.

Here is my list in order for the best bar box players currently:

1.Shane
2.Scott Frost
3.Jesse Bowman
4.Glen Atwell (sp?)
5.Stevie Moore

All this talk abut bar table champs and I'm bringing Joe Salazar out of retirment. Just last Sunday he told me he retired more players than social security.
At near 70 years old, hell he is just a kid.
FWIW, yes I will catch hell about this one!!

If anyone wants to save a archived video from ustream, just let the whole thing load in the ustream player and search for the .flv file in "temporary internet files". I just sort by size & it should be the top one. Should be about 128kb in this case. Cope & paste the file wherever you want to save it. If you leave it there, the file will be deleted as soon as you close (or navigate away from) the ustream window. You'll need a player capable of playing flv's (media player classic--not windows media player--is highly recommended).

i think we are pretty much in agreement here. BB 9 Ball can be so unpredictable. As you say if you can't break well, you ain't going to play well. A 5-6-7 game swing is nothing in VBB 9 ball.

If ever there was a training video on how to play Bar Box 9-ball…this is it. This is on a Diamond with pretty slow cloth. Jesse Bowman shows the text book way of playing 9-ball on a Bar Box. Thanks to the excellent video from Bigtuck most will pick up the reasons Jesse Bowman is one of the top BB players in the country. If anyone wants to play better on a BB they should watch this match 3 times and call me in the morning. It’s just what the BB Doctor ordered. Johnnyt

I watched this match this morning, I thought Jesse played damn good myself.
Gabe didn't play bad, he didn't get to shoot much, and the shots he got were tough.

I'm on dial-up so the recorded stream was in Super Slow Motion until it played all the way thru, then I could rewind it, and it played normally.

Just an observation, Jesse and Gabe shoot open bridge most shots, Gabe curves his wrist hand when he shoots, and they both patterned rack themselves every game.

Jesse rack like this every game
1
85
497
63
2

Gabe rack like this every game
1
35
796
48
2

its funny i'm reading this post... just this past wednesday I watched a video of jesse playing, (i've played him before but its been about 4 years) and the following night, i felt like i was hitting the balls with more confidence just as a result of watching him play. Lots of confidence and little hesitation. jesse's a great source of connfidence, watch him play, remember his approach and attack the table. watching him makes me want to play some bbox 9 ball for sure...

im going out on a limb here to say jesse would be number 2 on that list, I dont think he has any intentions right now of playing shane but i will say this much jesse might have more heart than 90% of people walking the planet and has made a hell of a career out of outruning the nuts so everybody had better watch out.

Jess is a killer, when it goes bad for him it usually goes south pretty fast, however if he hits that gear and gets out in 30 seconds or less in a rack, he just stacks the points up on you. I'd like to see him get some redemption playing Johnny Morra, that's a battle and a half right there. The top guys on the bar table really do make it look too easy sometimes, it's a little bit decieving.

Chris I didn't even know that you play on the bar table. If that's the case, I'd have to put you on my top five list instead of Glen.

For some reason I thought you mentioned that you don't play on bar tables, but I could be mistaken.

As for Pinegar, I think it's a toss up between him and Stevie and anyone else on my list. I just forgot about him. I made the list off the top of my head.

I also just want to mention that I am talking about the top 5 current players. For all time bar box players I would have to say Keith, Matlock, Buddy, Danny Medina, and Jose Parica.
