All of you are funny with or without popcorn or teeth. Talking in person, talking on the phone or even trying communicate on a forum is tough. It's a lot easier in person or on the phone, In a forum most didnt take english as a major so sometimes it comes out different then we thought had we be speaking normal in person.

Some people take 2 hours to make a posting tiple checking how they want it to be read. others post in under a minute and it reads easy or sounds like crap or coming on like a
tough person.

As for becoming a group a lot has happened towards that Most call Glen when stuck looking at a W.T.F is this. We have become a group not on paper but by forum and phone calls to each other seeking advise or reassurance on something from odd ball tables to rebuilding techniques on $200-$60,000 tables.

If some one on this forum had seven days to recover/rerubber with extension 25 tables? That person knows atleast 3 or 4 of us would come and help out and we could do it Glen's way or Maybe the way pooltable 911way so they would all play the same as best as we could do it per the way of the person in charge wanted it or set the specks to.

So there are new, learning, cant be taught, staple pullers only, slate dollies, frame setup persons, teachable person's @ any age and NIT PICKERS so decide on what you want the forum to be So decide on unity through forums by Azbilliards or have fun in the rants and rave section in Craigslist.

I know of some great pool players that have a GED and few that graduated College But they like working now instead of playing pool.

In the 3-5 years I have known Glen never has belittled me are snapped like a mad man He thinks like every DAD/mentor would S%^& or get off the pot stand up and i'll help you out any time you need it with advice And if he didnt know it he would call someone that did know it.

So give the man a break he is 53 I wouldn't want to get B%tch slapped with those guns.

Craig

Forgot give DARTMAN some credit/love for getting all the stikies and Table mechanics section going stronger everyday.

Anyone else want to get on this bandwagon with Bob & Pat?

This band wagon is WAY bigger than you think. I didn't even start it. I just had enough. I don't make false claims. You have danced around the point several times here and you know it. Yes I was Alive and yes I can read a history book. I also KNOW the difference between Vietnam ERA vet Vietnam vet. The cloth in Vegas? Josh I never cared about Doing or not doing it. I care that this clown stood right next to me and claimed he did it. As far as getting " B$%^ch Slapped " by those guns. PLEASE?

I am done with this forum. I don't care what else happens. I made my point. Anyone who reads this can see that Glenn dodged every point made like a politician. I know many who didn't post simply because of the bullying. I stepped up and said my piece. Remember Glenn We all Speak outside of this forum. When things you say don't add up we know it.

Been band before?

No unfortunately I have never been in a band before, I have been BANNED from a forum before though. But being as there would be no merit, whatsoever, in banning me from this forum for what I said, good luck with your fruitless endeavor. Even if you do, I will be back with a new user name......SnakeCharmer.

My military record has nothing to do with this thread

You beat me to it. You and Bob both know I like and respect BOTH of you. I also respect anyone who has serves this country in ANY era. However, this pissing match has no place in this forum. You guys should compare battle scars and dick sizes somewhere else. I don't see how ANYONE on this forum has anything to gain from the discussion happening here in public.

Wazzup!?

This all is friken hilarious. Just have to put that out there! Cred to all those finally voicing their Glenn experience. There was a time in a galaxy far far away when the notorious RKC would keep me up all hours of the night talking about the difference between a Gc1 and a Gc2... The man does know his stuff. Since I work on everything I would gladly listen, but then came the bullshit. Below is a list of stuff he told me.. Some I withheld to not cause waves...

1) Unite the mechanics, health care and consistent work for all
2) 256 table pool room in south Dakota.. uh huh
3) DIY videos wont hurt our bottom line.. uh huh
4) At the time Pat, Bob and me were a local group..he talked major trash on them. I did voice some when I heard he told Bob as well that pat was an "installer".
5) I was to be the group toolmaker so I shared some new ideas but got blasted publicly for them not being portable ....then
6) My chop box, many saw the double angle mitre saw mounted in the table pat gave me and Bob. He apparently has taken credit for that all over...

Long story short, I walked away from most. Business has been great and I have much to post. For those who don't remember ..I was excommunicated from here for jumping on Glenn's BS. I can build Just about anything in my shop, imagine what I can post that hasn't ever been on here? Is there anyone else who does subrails on a milling machine? I've yet to see it...takes twice as long but is worth it.

Also, all mechanics are welcome to my shop. No travelling gypsy shanty town here.. I still travel 80000 miles a year, but you'll never see me take a shower at a customers home or spend the night doing a recover. Call me a hack if you want, difference is I'm on the way up while Glenn has no where to go but down.

That's bullshit about the Vietnam era vet..I hope that statement haunts your career.

the truth - for what difference it makes

First, I am retired Air Force, served a little over 20 years. Most of that time was both directly and indirectly working for the NSA, National Security Agency, NOT NASA - the space guys.
I retired right after Desert Storm. That was many years ago and I still haven't told even a fraction of what I know to be true that differs from what was told in official sources as true.
Let me say this: (1) for some of us in the intelligence community, the war was not over in 73 as some suggest, nor was it even over in 75 with the fall of Saigon, but continued after
that for quite sometime. So you are both wrong, but you are also both right lol. I will leave it at that and cheers all :)

How about a little FACT here, let's go with what the US Government states is a "Vietnam era Veteran" (The government does not differeniate those who were in country or not).

Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 said:
A Vietnam era veteran is a person who

1. served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days, any part of which occurred between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975, and was discharged or released with other than a dishonorable discharge.
2. was discharged or released from active duty for a service connected disability if any part of such active duty was performed between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975.
3. served on active duty for more than 180 days and served in the Republic of Vietnam between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975."

So, given the date RKC joined and the amount of time he was in the armed forces, he is recognized by the US Government as being a "Vietnam era veteran" and has every right to refer to himself in that manner. If you disagree with that, bring it up to the feds and have them change their rules.

This isn't taking sides by any means, just pointing out facts.

Brian

If he didn't serve in Vietnam, then saying he is a Vietnam veteran is silly. It would be like me saying, 30 years from know, I'm a 911 survivor . Only thing I survived was watching it on TV, from Canada at that. Adding 'ERA' doesn't put me any closer.

Bob, bottom line is...I don't give a shit what differences we have today, because I don't really care. You're a much better mechanic today than you were a year ago, because you care enough to learn how to do this work better. You are a great table mechanic, and no one can say otherwise that knows something about this line of work. Pat is still a great installer table mechanic, but will never change his work habits to become a great table mechanic...why should he, first of all....he has you for backup, second...he's to busy installing tables to change his routine to completely working on rebuilding tables....besides, that don't pay as much vs the time invested...as you well know. I'm not saying Pat isn't smart enough to become a great table mechanic, because he is. But, Pat's income is from installing tables...which is what he's the best at, along with everything pertaining to that line of work.

Sometimes people hear what they want to hear..."I dogged you and Pat"...yet I send you work and speak highly of you both...hmmmm....OK, whatever! You also said in another conversation that I threw you and Pat under the bus with Diamond...hmmmm....no, I didn't....if I had, you wouldn't be on Diamond's list of table mechanic's that can get the job done...need proof, call Brian;) As far as the billiards table goes, and installing a 9ft bed cloth on a 10ft billiards table...I'm the one that pointed out that it was a 9ft rip of cloth when Josh & Don came up to me to ask me if it was the right cloth....by the way, I gave that work to them as well....as I was requested to do the job of setting up the tables for Jimar billiards...but passed on it so they could make some extra money while they were in Vegas, as I'd already supported them for about 2 weeks in a hotel, while they came out early to learn from me so I went to Simonis to see if they had a 10ft bed cloth for that table on hand...they didn't....SO...we ALL helped stretch that cloth on that table and WE got the job done. How else you heard it getting done....once again, I don't give a shit...as it don't concern me.

Bob, you're a much better table mechanic today because Mark Gregory and "I" took time out of our lives to show you something that changed your path as a table mechanic....because we both felt that you have what it takes to become a great table mechanic...a "Billiards Technician" in my terms....and you owe nothing to either one of us...as you earned it. Just because someone shows you how to do something...that's only half the battle....the rest is up to you to take what you've learned and do something with it....as you have done, great job;) But, you can't take your skills and offer them to everyone in this country that wants this kind of work done, so yes...there needs to be more than 4 qualified mechanic's to do this kind of work, just NOT in overlapping areas. So, you teach whom ever you want...in your back yard, and I'll teach others that meet the requirements needed to be a top mechanic....in other, non-competing areas in the US, as to be able to offer the same customer support that YOU offer in your area of work. I don't believe for one second, that anyone else that learns this level of work...as you have, is going to go out and show anyone else how to do this kind of work...until it spreads nation wide and gets in the hands of every hack out there....so they can come and underbid you in your area of work. There isn't enough "hacks" that even care, let alone mechanics that do...as I've stated already.

If he didn't serve in Vietnam, then saying he is a Vietnam veteran is silly. It would be like me saying, 30 years from know, I'm a 911 survivor . Only thing I survived was watching it on TV, from Canada at that. Adding 'ERA' doesn't put me any closer.

What you fail to understand...is that I was on "Active duty" during the "era" of the Vietnam "War"....meaning, if things were to have turned around...and the US changed it's mind and decided NOT to pull out when it did, and decided to go a head and continue to give it's support to South Vietnam and keep our troops stationed there...as was promised by our government at the time....I was ready to go...I was in...I was a "US SOLDIER" at THAT time. "ERA" is nothing more than a "TIME FRAME"....the difference when asked...is did you...or did you NOT go into combat...OR...were you READY to go if needed!

You were a hack before, and probably still are today. How much work do you get from Bob & Pat today vs before you butchered a set of rails you handed back to Bob as finished work...to leave him hanging with your shit work....in his hands...in front of his customer...without even informing him of the work you did when he picked up the "finished" rails from you?

Maybe a little long winded, but attaboys to all of you. It's about time.

Now THAT's Funny right there!

Guess after reading 5 pages of this after an AZer called to tell me about it, it's time for my worthless .02. lol
Everyone has a big jimmy, everyone is willing to help someone worthwhile learn to become better, and everyone is adamant about making a table look and play right. Not good enough, right- or correctly if you prefer.
There have been many good points made in many many threads and posts throughout this section of our little world of AZ, and an incredible amount of comraderie as a result of our love for the game and what we do.
Nobody that I'm aware of graduated high school, with a note from their guidance councelor saying that their ideal job would be a pool table mechanic or installer.
Somewhere along the way, the job chose who was going to be filling the needs to improve upon the way things were done. Som where along the way, guys learned a better way or another way, better or not, and then sought to improve upon that.
And they started getting referred to do someone elses table. and someone elses table.
And then the phones started to ring.
And the table work took over the job that was probably being done before it became a fulltime job. Unless you are one of the lucky ones who were born into a family business and grew up doing it as part of your life and loved it enough to keep up the tradition and improve upon that as well..
I would imagine that alot of the guys working on tables are better than average as a player. Maybe some are close to world beaters, maybe some aren't but most would have a pretty good idea of how a table should play at the end of the day.
There are guys that don't have that hand eye coordination, but can read a Starrett level, build parts, fabricate tools, and even repair woodwork or build a table from scratch.
Regardless of where you stand in the grand scheme of things, we ALL have a certain amount of impact upon the billiards community, whether it's local, regional, national or internationally known, we still contribute something.
We have all made mistakes in the past, we have also learned from our mistakes and others mistakes to continue to improve our standards.
Raising our standards is what makes the difference.
Directly or indirectly, bickering, on one side of the fence or the other, glue or staple or tacks strip, bondo or wax or durham's, cut or don't cut subrails, stretching techniques- all of it has been brought into the public eye and discussed by many of us in here. But the end result of everything that we agree on or disagree on has still had one big factor that speaks for itself...
Public awareness.
Even through the arguments, proclamations, and calm discussion and idea sharing the general public, not just AZB members have gotten the idea that good ain't necessarily good enough.
The standard has been raised regardless of how we group together.
Letting the world recognize that something better can be done on a pool table has been achieved.
Even with all the disagreements, it still served it's purpose.
How many nonposting guys in the world, that may or may not work on tables for a living, do you suppose have heard about this forum, and come to it in search of an answer?
I have met a great number of people on AZ, and hope to continue to do so around the country for alot of years to come.
But I have met at least as many people who have never been a member of AZ who know about it, have read it, and even educated themselves and learned because of a simple google search on a table issue.
5 years ago, you looked for a pool table installer to move and setup or repair your table.
Now the title table mechanic has separated the good from the good enough or not good enoughs.
Type in pool table mechanic into google.
The very first thing it brings up is our very own Dartman's sticky for a mechanics directory. (Well done Rick)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...+table+mec&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=7b989c6c17f79c85

Whether we want to admit it or not, united or not, we HAVE come together as a group, and as a group have raised the standards in our own way.
Whether we are unified or not, we are still here as a group, and as a single group willing to stand up and take a stand on the issues, share ideas, and work out the problems to the point that it has come down to something other than pool table work that gets to be argued out.
Self proclamation, group recognition, business development or R&D on new tools or ideas to help us all out down the road, it doesn't matter.
What matters is that there is enough pride in enough guys that others want to reach that level, and customers and the industry are more and more requiring it.
Because of the work all of you have done to get this far, and the well deserved reputations that were built because of it.
Personally, I think all of you should stand up, take a bow, get a pat on the back, and realize that under appreciated or not, this forum has done it's job so far.
It has shown that there are guys scattered around the country that take their job seriously and were willing to invest the time and energy to improve themselves, their names, their work and set a new standard for guys to follow to try and exceed if they want to stay in the game.
And the customers and upcoming competition watched and listened.
And learned.

TAP TAP TAP guys..... well done.

If you're going to comment in this thread to me, you should at least read all that I post....before you comment....don't you think?

I did read all that you wrote Glen, so I'm well aware that you corrected your mistake AFTER you got caught in a lie.

Anyone who's served our country honorably, whether in combat or not, deserves praise and respect. But you can backpedal and equivocate all you want. You got caught trying to pump yourself up on the experience, blood and sacrifice of others.

Now you can either be a man and admit you're wrong, or you can do what you always do - find some random metric by which you can claim superiority and dominance over others. I really could care less what you can do with a pool table. After what I've seen out of you on this forum I wouldn't hire you to clean a cueball.

That's hilarious Glen! I have respect for Bob and Pat from friendship and as fellow mechanics, though I have been at odds with Bob since the rail incident. Yes I did make a mistake, unlike you when it came up I immediately took responsibility for it and made steps to correct. I had more contact with Bob today then in the past year, if we are going to work together again we have to get all the bullshit in the open on what really happened there. That's up to him and I can see reasons for both sides
That being said I have never needed work from Pat, Bob or you to keep busy in this business. I work more on the business side than on the work, that is the side where our roles are reversed my friend. You are incompetant at organisation or even just showing up on time. My work is good though I lack the ego to self label myself a master. I haven't done a new table install in six months yet I work steady. Do I need anything from you? Maybe rolaids but that's about it. You are a twat and the more you run your flap the more people see it. Keep talking
