JimBo said:Joe, now you are trying to HyJack another thread. And you're once again proving what a complete moron you are, you see you do this when you start to feel you're looking bad. You try to expand the debate for more crap that you can twist, it's about CUE DESIGN THEFT now you are trying to drag in Guitars, they are separate canvases, one can inspire another, but to say one is copying another is a huge stretch, please try to stay on topic.

JimBo said:Joe I understand you aren't that bright and you're letting a personal thing cloud your thinking, but you are making yourself look like a moron. Take a breath. The fact is a wallet is a flat square, when R.Black made that cue his idea came from that art, he didn't copy it, his cue is a long cylinder, he didn't take a picture of a cue and duplicate it, he was inspired by the art and used it's style. I know it's tough for a fool to understand, but don't be blinded by your jealousy of me.

i think i understand nowit only applies to those put on cues original or not.

classiccues said:Not talking about Richard Black's wallet.. please stay on topic. My comment was made to the tie cue. BTW someone, somewhere created the art for the tie. I know its hard for you to comprehend, but it was what happened. John is bringing up a very valid point. What you are saying is its ok to copy, or be inspired by, other peoples artwork on cues although there are laws against using any art, photograph on ANY medium without permission.
Joe
Dennis's cues have a distinct, understated elagance that's obvious from across the room. his cues PROVE that less can b betta!titlistsucker said:my vote to Dennis Searing hands down. look at the demand! He seldom churn out intricate cues, but people ( no dealer or searing supporters, we talkin the general public here ) are willing to pay like 1k for a sneaky, and 2 k for a basic 4 point no veneer. The masses cant be wrong !

STOP CUE DESIGN THEFT!!
The topic we are trying to debate (although it seems one sided) is cuemakers who copy other cue makers on cues. We are doing this in a cue related forum where we talk about cues. Although it is nice to see that your stupidity is consistent, I mean you also believed it was ok to Steal Photos that didn't belong to you, then of course in typical Joe Van style you tried to twist and claim they were yours because some of the content of the photo belonged to your boss, then when that got shot down you tried to say it was ok cause they were taken at his place, then it was ok for other reasons. All the while you kept getting shot down by actual laws, but of course you were smarter then the laws and the twists just keep coming. You may be a complete idiot Joe but at least you're consistent. Consistent and Loyal normally good traits when used along with logic, Meatloaf said it best 2 out of 3 ain't bad buddy.

THE GOLDEN IDEAL OF THE GREEKS: that is the ratio of 1:1.33, as defined by The Parthenon.
classiccues said:SO I will ask again.. is it ok to steal other art for use in cues? No one stole a photo, so why bring it up? You want to see it again, I can put it back up. Then we can have the same arguement about "your" agreement. Going round in round on how little Jimmy don't remember the agreement he made and all that nonsense.

cgriffin5 said:Personally I think Ernie Gutierrez is the best living cuemaker. IMO his designs are the most creative and he has been doing it for 40+ years and IMO his cues hit great. Honestly I dont know alot about cues. I started this thread because I would like to hear the opinions of the many knowledgeable people on this board (Jimbo, Joe Van Buren, etc). Thank you.

I know that I am missing some of the guys that are top notch, but these are the ones I have the most personal experience with.
Here we go in no particular order:
1. Gutierrez: innovator, design and playability (my personal playing cue)
2. Hercek: construction master, playability and simplistic but effective design.
3. Schick: engraving, playability and no fear artistically.
4. Stroud: innovator and engineering genius.
5. Black Boar: best designs on the planet (just my opinion), love his silver work. (negative: where in the hell do all of his cues go?!)
6. B. Szamboti: tradition, integrity and most all one of the nicest people in the business.
