Who is or was your favorite pool player ever?

Sometimes a player is known regionally much more so than on a global scale. I like the local players, the weekend warriors, if you will. I think everybody has local favorites they enjoy watching compete. :)

Ryan "Genie Man" McCreesh enjoys games of stake, as do I. So when he's in the house, I know there's action in the making. It's only a matter of time! :grin-square:

There's something about Frankie Hernandez swagger and style that makes me swoon, and he can hit 'em pretty strong, as well! ;)

Let's not forget Allen Hopkins and all that he does to keep pool alive on the East Coast. Some of us can't travel to Vegas and appreciate anything and everything that's pool in our neck of the woods.

What separates Allen from all the rest is that he genuinely cares about the players in every event he puts forth. I love that about him! :)

And make no mistake about it, Allen Hopkins still has game and is capable of winning any event he steps foot in!

Allen is a true pool phenom, is very generous, and a real joy to be around.

Great

Hard to pick just one, but I enjoy Ronnie Wiseman and Alex Pagulayan's banter when they're in action. The two of them went on the road in 2004, I believe it was, and they took no prisoners. I think Ronnie won the one-pocket at the 2004 Carolinas Open that year, and Alex won the 9-ball. What a dynamic duo!

What a great photo! Thanks for all of them.

I like watching Mike Sigel. Oh, and of course, listening to him.

If Earl would drop his Bobby Fischer act, I would say he would be my all time favorite.

Without a doubt, number one for me is Jeanette Lee,for two reasons:
1.Her battle to the top while dealing with a debilitating back condition is pure awesomeness. How many other athletes/people in sports achieve a high level with a metal rod in their spine?
2.Back in 2006/2007, when I was first starting,I was just banging the balls around, hitting blindly. What little help I got was usually only where to hit the ball for a specific shot. Then I bought and read her book, The Black Widow's Guide to Killer Pool. After reading it,I wasn't hitting blindly anymore.I was able to start working on and using the stop, follow and draw shots. I took a break from 2008 to last year, but I brought her book back out,and use the drills in it when I practice. Without her book, I may have given up in frustration.

Number 2 would be Ga Young Kim. I first heard about her when I was stationed in Korea, and she was already well known in the pool community there, but started gaining mainstream attention because of her success in the U.S. Her shooting angles and banking have me wanting to learn three cushion.

For guys,it's hard for me to say, as I haven't watched too many guys.Doesn't help that I have to resort to watching grainy youtube vids. I'll go with Efren Reyes, and Ronnie O'Sullivan for all the awesome vids I've watched of him playing snooker.

My fav. players :-
1). Efren Reyes aka "The Magician"
2). Buddy Hall aka "Rifleman"
