I never heard this name before,this man is 1 tough cookie,just barely lost to Morris 11-8,then Phil goes over to the losers bracket and runs over Deuel 11-3,we all already know the man is a player,just wondering where he is from and his age!

I think this US Open is kind of Phil's coming out party. He plays pool at my local room (Stan's daughter, his girlfriend, goes to school here). The dude is a beast and only 20 years old.
He will get some more seasoning and be a real strong contender. Ask him about how he plays straight pool if you see him at the open.
Guys like Phil make me think that pool is something you have or you don't. I think everyone can get better, but it has to be something you're born with to get to that elite level.

Phil was in Buffalo's Billiards, the worlds pool hall last week three nights in a row. He played Mark Cavalier. I talked to him a while. Nice guy.

I disagree, Jeff Carter was a perfect example of hard work and accomplishment to reach a Very high level. He never had the natural ability of Varner and the alike during his prime years, but he got there.
