WHO is still in the field at Ocean State 9 Ball

Thank you. It really is amazing how much better the top guys are than everyone else. He wins be a wider margin later in the tournament when the competition should be tougher.

The first opponent (9-1) was essentially unrated. Beyond that, the opponents for the next 7 matches average a Fargo Rating of 683.

Jayson beat this crowd 63 to 20

He was expected to beat this crowd 63 to 27

As it is, Jayson's rating will go up a bit. But had these opponents gotten to 28 or more, Jayson's rating would have taken a hit.

These will go into FargoRate in a few days...

Thanks a lot for this great picture. So will you be putting all of these matches into FargoRate? I played, but like how can you know who all the lesser players like me are. My name is slightly more unique, but not true for everyone. Just curious. Like for example, I played Sebastian Laramee. I can't find him on fargorate at all.

Yes we will get these in

Here is Sebastien Larame. He is from Quebec. Played in the Archer Cup event last spring as well as The Canadian 8-Ball Championships.

Matching players correctly keeps us up at night ;-)

Thanks Mike. I found him. Was spelling his first name differently. So curious...I'm 668 and he's 699. He won 9-6 I think. So what does that match alone mean for my rating?

That depends. Let's suppose his rating is well established. If it is not it will have smaller influence.

So you played 15 games against him. Playing 15 games you are supposed to win just under 7, maybe 6.8 to 8.2. You actually won 6, i.e., 0.8 short of the expectation for you.

A rule of thumb is for each full game under your expectation, you will go down by about 1000/(your robustness).

So if you have 400 games in the system, you might go down 0.8 times 2.5, or about 2 points.

More games is, you go down less
Fewer games in you go down more

Maybe?

If Jason could go up against Shane in a winner break format in a race to 50 in 9 Ball and win 2 out of 3 sets then I will change my opinion if he wins.

Try it in 10 Ball on a 10' Diamond!

Yes, he is playing great and I wish him well.

But, time is the test of a great player.

To date, jayson seems to be all or nothing and imo, that is what would make him stumble in a long set against svb.

When shaw is going good, it is real good, but when he gets down, he gets way down.

I believe he shellacked SVB in the Big Foot at DCC last year.

That Jayson Shaw is King of Pool in the year 2016. He should make Player of the Year, IMO.

Agreed.

Of late, he won at Turning Stone, won at the Challenge of Champions, was third at the US Open, won at the Steinway Classic, won at WPA Kuwait and won the Ocean States Championship.

He's the player of the year as I see it.

He actually went up another full point from the Ocean State event that went in today. He really in on a tear...

Also 5th at WPA 9-ball in Qatar.

What a year indeed.
