Who is the BEST pool-playing INSTRUCTOR?

I see what you're getting to Joey, but I would also say that for the best players to instruct for regular income (based on their playing income)... well that price would be difficult for a student to pay. That is, the very top players are better paid by playing than teaching, and when their career starts dropping then their incomes will be better supplemented by teaching.

In addition, I would add that I believe that the best college coach ever was Dean Smith, a back up point guard at Kansas. The best coaches are always those that overachieved to make a contribution to their sport by finding a way to play well against those with superior god-given talent.

That being said, my answer to your question is Hohnman, who has less opportunity to spend spare non-tourney time gambling (Europe).

Ok, so 10 pages into the thread, you now decide to state your rules for your arbitrary list. So we make things up as we go along. Cool. These latest comments above are totally absurd and insulting to instructors who have the moxy to come on here and state their opinions.

Short, simple, and to the point.:D

No need to upset Mr. JoeyA,..So I will respond to my bud Lou..(Hope Joey doesn't see this)... But I think as his thread nears 200 posts, he appears to be no closer to his MAIN goal, then he was when he started...Which was his VERY "thinly veiled" attempt to get his 3-4 favorite "Aiming System Supporting, Top Playing Instructors", at the TOP of the list...This has only created a severe backlash, causing him to issue numerous apologies, and try and console, a lot of hurt 'feeler's'..

NOTE...Example;..Even the Instructor's are getting 'testy' with each other !!!

I would hope that he would learn, that his valiant efforts, went about as far as his ASS threads go..(which is nowhere but, a flame war) But, knowing Mr. Augasin, as I do, I know he is 'hatching' yet another, sure fire, can't miss plan,...To change all pool players
into "straight shooting' never miss, A.S.S. robot's" :boring2:

Million Ball McDuck....STILL wuv's JoeyA, dispite his obvious mental disorder's JK, JK, JK, :p.............. (sorry I can't say as much about his dorky ASS partner)

Put that Yukon Jack AWAY, man. It's enhancing the dementia which has already set in. ;-)

I've responded to a few of your posts Joey thought you knew who I was?

Would love to be on your list, a lot of great names to be associated with, but I don't do it regularly, no. Currently the taxi business is full time and teaching is part time. Hopefully will change one day

Still play well  and a confident, competent instructor :smile: but unfortunately I would consider myself part time

'regularly' is up to you to define for my inclusion

hope you are well ...

Billy,
Sorry I had to be certain this was you.

I am starting to wonder if I made a mistake in using the word "REGULARLY". I have no way of verifying how many lessons any instructors gives. I wonder if I should have used the word "CURRENTLY"??

I think it is far more important to know if an instructor is CURRENTLY, playing pool at a high level and CURRENTLY providing pool lessons. The number of lessons that each instructor gives is debatable. I think I have just answered my own question..... I am changing the word REGULARLY to CURRNTLY.

Billy, I will be adding you to the list providing you are CURRENTLY soliciting pool lessons from prospective students. Please confirm this is correct.

I appreciate your candor about the part-timeness of the pool lessons. I believe if the number of instructors who play at a very high level were limited to just the people who do it full-time, would shrink radically and that's not what my goal is.

I want people who view this list to know that those who are on the list are not only top-playing instructors but who CURRENTLY provide cueing instruction, whether it is on a part-time or full-time basis.

There will be a second part to this thread which I will be announcing shortly for those who are following the thread, so stay tuned.

Joey aside, but I think Billy is the one that gets around!!!

Freddie <~~~ knows Billy

You're right Freddie. It is Billy that gets around. LOL

Several years ago, I was at a tournament in Gulfport, MS and I was watching this stranger pocket balls. His stroke reminded me of New York Blackie in his prime; smooth as glass. The cue ball would move around with the finesse and accuracy of a ballerina and I just sat and watched him for about 30 minutes. It's not often when I see someone with that type of skill and I don't know who they are. Finally, I mustered up the nerve to ask him who he was and he answered without the secret agent stuff that goes on with many road players, "Billy Stephen".

You tell me, your the expert.

Should that somehow stop people from pointing out the obvious problems with your biased instructor thread? I think not.

No, no. It is just what others are saying about you being Raphael Saldana. I just wanted to be sure it was true is all. Thanks for the response.

This thread is designed to give honor and exposure to those instructors who play at a very high level. It isn't designed to belittle any instructors who don't play at a very high level.

I could be wrong, but this thread seems a bit silly to me.

From what I can ascertain, a huge number of top-notch players are willing to give lessons for a price of course. What if they only give one lesson a year? Does that count? How about 6? Where's the line?

I think the stipulation should be - do they make enough money off of lessons that they are able to report it as income to you-know-who. If not, then they are just helping people out here and there and I wouldn't count them as an instructor.

I'm interested to see what JoeyA's plan is for this....hmmmm

You make a good point. I don't know where to draw the line. In fact, it is impossible to verify anyone's account. After corroborating a recommendation, the bottom line is I just have to take people's word at whether the instructors play at a very high level (although I know some of them do) and whether or not they actively/currently provide pool lessons.

If you think that anyone on the list shouldn't be there, let me know who should be removed.

Puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeze, Joey..Have mercy..At least have the courtesy to address this young ladies issues first !!!

yes Joey I do solicit and advertise 24/7

but with the current economy and a higher-than-usual hourly rate, it becomes a part time position

many thanks for the consideration

In that case, you go on the list.

NO! Apparently he can't play well enough.
List doesn't make sense anyway.
randyg

This list is designed to pay tribute to those instructors who CURRENTLY play at a very high level.

Randy, if I added you to the list, I would have to add myself, then that would really open up the floodgates. :D:D:D

Maybe, someone should start a list of simply, THE BEST POOL INSTRUCTORS. Just make sure you qualify what that stands for or you will catch hell for it.
