Who is the BEST pool-playing INSTRUCTOR?

Jerry Briesath

Is Jerry Brieseth on the list...the Dean of instructors!!!

Wedge

I agree, Jerry is in a class by himself, however I think that Jerry no longer plays at a very high level.

I have had others recommend player/instructors who have played at a MUCH HIGHER level than most but who do not play at that level any longer.

It wouldn't be fair to those instructors who still play at a very high level to include those who no longer play at a very high level.

Jerry's honor and those in his class should be honored in a different way, with a different thread but that's just my opinion.

Out of all of the instructors I have ever had the honor of learning from, Jerry had the greatest impact on my game and it took him all of 5 minutes and 4 of those minutes was him watching me hit balls. He turned my game around 180 degrees and got me going in the right direction, faster than I thought was possible. NO OTHER INSTRUCTOR PLAYER EVER DID THAT IN THAT SHORT OF A PERIOD OF TIME.

Rempe, Hall, Varner, and Mathews perhaps belong to the list. All teriffic players players as everyone knows, but I can't say for sure how often they instruct for monetary gain. Maybe some folks here can confirm???

Excellent points on all 4 players. Until someone recommends them that knows their story and I can corroborate it, I can't add any of them to the list.

This list is designed to pay tribute to those instructors who CURRENTLY play at a very high level.

Randy, if I added you to the list, I would have to add myself, then that would really open up the floodgates. :D:D:D

Maybe, someone should start a list of simply, THE BEST POOL INSTRUCTORS. Just make sure you qualify what that stands for or you will catch hell for it.

I've got it Joey !!!..Its so simple, I'm surprised you didn't think of it. All you need is an individual "Instructor Capability" designation, for ALL instructors, full or part time, living or dead, top player, or hacker, etc..I envision the sub- catagories, something like this... (I had a little spare time, so I am glad to help out)

A..Top notch player/instructor...Full Time, (Aiming System advocate)

B..Top notch player/instructor...Part Time, (Aiming System advocate)

C..Player/instructor's, who think aiming systems are for the mentally challenged...(I am getting 'carpul tunnel' so please remember to break all the following sub-categories down, into full or part time)

D..Instructors who can not make a ball in the ocean, but are 'nice guy's, or ladies.

E..Instructors who are jerks, but have a 'secret aiming system'. (your field of expertice)

F..P/I's who have one foot on a banana peel, but have a wealth of knowledge to offer, if they can ONLY remember it..(I may fall in this catagory.:p)

G..P/I's who are dead, BUT if they were alive, they would be just peachy.

I'm sure you can see the benefit, of carrying this on, to at LEAST all the letters in the alphabet. Make sure you do not show favoritism, to 'ASS' guys, versus non-ASS instructors, or player's versus non-players..That would not be fair..

May I further suggest, some sort of "Nobel Prize" for those most worthy..Say a $10,000 award for the most deserving among US..;)..(out of your own pocket of course)..

PS..I could really use the money...

You put that bottle of Yukon Jack away, didn't you? ;-)

Why Joey? You're NOT an instructor, don't teach 'regularly', you certainly don't get paid to teach, and you admit that you don't play "at a high level". Randyg, on the other hand, fits all the criteria.

Scott Lee
www.poolknowledge.com

Apparently you don't know everything Scott. It is true that I teach some students for free, but others pay (and I do that on a regular basis and yes I solicit paying customers).

While my speed is far from TOP SPEED, I'm sure I play at a far higher level than you have EVER dreamed of.

Hey JoeyA,
Buddy Hall still takes students and he plays wonderful pool! He charges $125.00 an hour on the road. And if he gets four students at a time he will teach them for $250.00 each for 4 to 8 hours for that flat fee. He starts at 4:PM and will teach them until 12:AM. Now does he qualify for this thread? Please let me know? Thanks for such a nice thread. Oh, by the way he might be a little busy tonight playing One Pocket for $300.00 a game. That is what he did night before last. Thanks again.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Nick Varner still plays great pool and he teaches students all the time. He sometimes travel with Buddy Hall and they have pool clinics and shows with trick shots and will play anyone that wants to play. For whatever amount they want to play for. JoeyA, does Nick quality? Thanks.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

The definition of INSTRUCTOR is as follows: One who regularly advertises, provides and charges for their pool instruction.

I know of a couple that I think are at the top of the group but wanted to hear what you all think.

You may include male or female instructors of course.

Please list the country where the instructor resides.

So far:
Tony Robles
Hunter Lombardo
Stan Shuffett
Mark Wilson
Thorsten Hohmann
Max Eberle
Gene Albrecht
Ralph G. Eckert
Fran Crimi
Ray Martin
Kelly Fisher
Joe Tucker
Mike Sigel
Tony Crosby

Frank Tullos
John Brumback
John Schmidt
Corey Harper
Allison Fisher
Charlie Williams
Billy Stephen

List away.

Thanks,

Hey JoeyA,
Johnny Archer takes on one student at a time. And I have watched him teach more than one student. Perhaps he might qualify? He is not cheap with his lessons either. Let me know? Oh, I almost forgot got to add, he does play great pool!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I know that Busti also gives lessons from time to time.
Just heard great words about it. And wondering that some guys are wondering that he *could* share necessary things. I am sure he s able to teach great stuff. It s just about for what you re looking for.
He will for sure not teach you *rock-solid-fundamentals from textbook*, but will show you many important things.

Why isn't Hillbilly on your list?

i asked the same question about 5 pages ago... and if charlie was still playing for the cheese, im sure people like joey could get the 7 anyday they want and there would be a long like wanting to bet on it...

Well then, yes, that would qualify Buddy Hall to make the list. I know who you are. You are known as Lock N Load from coast to coast.

Buddy Hall goes up on the list. Thanks for verifying that Buddy is still actively soliciting students. I know Buddy can still swing that cue.

Best regards,
JoeyA

If you have verified this, Nick goes up on the list.
Thanks,

No, I would need the Orange Crush from Charlie. I can't believe I missed reading the post about Charlie. I know Charlie still gives pool lessons.

In fact, I read where he is providing some type of Internet Pool Lesson thing that is still in it's development stage.

Charlie (HIllbilly) Bryant is the real deal.

Thanks also to the second person mentioning Charlie Bryant for shaking the tree.

Charlie has been giving away some great pool tips and you can learn more about how to get involved with his new system of teaching by clicking here.

Bert Kinister.............

Cuejoey,
Good to see you posting. Hope all is well.

Does Bert Kinister play at a VERY HIGH LEVEL and does he currently provide pool lessons? I have never seen Bert play and do not know his level of play.

If you know that Busti gives pool lessons, I don't need to corroborate anything else.
Bustamante goes on the list.
