Who is the resident Joss West expert?

This is 1 of 2 old Joss West cues I have bought recently. Can someone give me an estimated price on what it might be worth? I know its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it, but I am wanting a round about ball park figure. Heck, it might even be a good fake...I dunno. Kinda used and abused but I got it worth the money.

I loaned my Pool Cue Blue Book to a friend that is picking up a old cue or I would get as best info from it that I could.

I am gonna send pictures to Bill Stroud to see if he can give me any info on it on a possible refinish. Any help you guys can be is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Shawn

Here is the link to my photobucket that has all the pictures of this cue

As is, and assuming straight, sound with sfts close to 13mm, apprx $749.69. The "stuff" on the rubber bumper is prolly factory original which bumps value.

Even if you had that cue completely refinished, I'd be surprised if you could get more than $1k for it... JMO.

Original shaft is 13mm, 2nd shaft that doesnt match is 13.2mm. Cue is straight as an arrow. I am picking up the Joss West butt that matches the 2nd shaft tomorrow after work.

Cue plays really well.

Ribdoner, with a total refinish, what would you estimate the value at?

Man, I hate not having my Blue Book here :frown:

Sorry, but I'm just laughing that you think the Blue Book would give you a value....

If the pilot on the mismatched sft matches the original and the frls were replaced w/iv, in addition to a quality refinish i wouldn't hesitate to ask 12 to 14 for it. Getting it may require strong hands, but, it's doable.

Why, did you run out of toilet paper? The "blue books" have caused newbie cue pimps immeasurable brain damage in addition to costing them a ton of mon. Of limited value w/regards to production line and bottom end imports, etc.

Hey....I had to wipe didnt I

ribdoner...This particular Joss West is a custom job. It's not on any of Bill's 'catalogs'. Still I'd agree it's not worth more than $1K, and probably less. If it were me, and I wanted to know, I'd contact Bill Stroud directly in NM.

addressing this to me is akin to me teaching you how to shoot a "stop" shot:smile:

Hey Shawn, I got a blue book, and a new wrap jig. I can refinish it for you with a leather wrap. Bring it by this weekend. You can have a refinish done, while u wait . . .

Shawn,

If the cue is straight and sound I'll give you $550 for it if you ship it to Scot Sherbine at Proficient Billiards for me to get it refinished. I would also like pictures of the wrap, because if it's in good condition I would prefer to keep it. (would have to call Scot to get the ok first).

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

It has the original wrap, and I believe its green spec courtland wrap...its dirty but I am sure it would clean up to look pretty good. The cue is straight as laser beam.

I am gonna hold off selling the 2 JW cues at this time. I am going to get them refinished and then I will decide on what I am gonna do with them...I may just end up keeping them.

Hope your doing well
Shawn
