Morro Paez is certainly one of the top players in the state, but not THE top player in the state.

satman said:I know most everyone in Indiana, been playing in tournaments against everyone who can make 3 balls ina row and gambled with most of the best players. There are about 10 really top rated players who stick out in my mind who are all around good players. Tournament players and gambling are 2 different animals. If we took a variety of games, took my top picks and threw them in a matchup. There are 4 players I would pick as the top.
George Breedlove
Brian Groce
Brian Gregg
Steve Oaks
Now, if I had to pick one player to put all my cash on in a matchup with a road player, playing several different games{ie, 8-ball, 9-ball,10-ball, one pocket, banks, and straight pool. I have to pick George if he's been playing at all. But I've always liked Brian Groce for the cash. Not to take anything away from the other 2. I have total respect for all of them and love to get to just hit balls with them.
So who's your pick Hippie? Are you maybe talking about Josh?

1. If I am the only person from Minnesota on this forum
2. Who the hell the best player in MN would be. Anyone have any ideas?
It's not exactly the hotbed of pool up here, so I'm not sure how the MN list shakes down. In a nice dream I'd put myself in the top 10, haha.
Sammy , hope to see ya in a tournament in Indiana soon .........satman said:Once I get my life settled again, I may just start matching up with some people. I love playing the tournaments and meeting up with friends I rarely see, but I miss being in action. It's just hard to stay focused for any length of time. It's a tough life being single again. HA HA!!!!!

And still that same controlled game. Over the last 10 years or so, I've become a little better friends with Steve. Had the pleasure of playing him in several tournaments. He is still a strong competitor. I count him as one of my top victories in tournament play. I have never matched up with him and really have no desire to other than playing in ring games. That's my favorite action anymore, ring games with Waldo, Everet, Steve, and just about anyone else. Just like the "have to get out" games.ironman said:Is Steve Oaks still playing. JDB said:Actually, I think the average player in Minnesota is much better than a lot of places. What else do you have to do between September - May, during the winter...lol. I lived there for 2 years and don't plan on coming back unless they give me lots of money.
Another name that comes to mind is Josh Burba... a strong shortstop.
You should go to mnbilliards.com and check the tournament listings. There are a lot of strong players in MN.
breakup,
"De-Nile" is a river in Egypt, NOT Indiana.
Indiana's best is George Breedlove (Brian Groce a close second).
I think that most people would say that Jimmy Wetch is the best with Lee Hewaugen (sp) close behind. However, there are some other top level players there, as well, that play damn good.
Sorry i'm limited it doesnt help that i avoid the huntsville area like the plague. GPeezy i'm shocked that you arent throwing out some of those names from shooter's over that way bud.
Beau Runningen is hands down the best player in Minnesota.
